Reflections on Caban coch reservoir, Powys, Wales, UK

 

Caban Coch is part of a series of Elan Valley Reservoirs that include the Claerwen, Craig-goch, Pen-y-garreg and Garreg-ddu.

 

The man-made lakes were built to provide drinking water for the people of Birmingham, the reservoirs are owned and managed by Welsh Water.

Had a drive around Clywedog reservoir this evening, spotted these three lambs playing on an old drystone wall, Powys, Wales, UK

Hollyhocks are annual, biennial, or perennial plants usually taking an erect, unbranched form. The herbage usually has a coating of star-shaped hairs. The leaf blades are often lobed or toothed, and are borne on long petioles. The flowers may be solitary or arranged in fascicles or racemes. The notched petals are usually over three centimeters wide and may be pink, white, purple, or yellow. The fruit is a schizocarp, a dry disc divided into over 15 sections that contain seeds

Tal-y-llyn Lake is a 220 acre ribbon lake situated north-east of Tywyn and north of Machynlleth at the foot of Cadair Idris in Southern Snowdonia. the River Dysynni flows from the lake through the village of Abergynolwyn to the sea north of Tywyn on the Mid Wales coast near Tonfanau.

On the coatal route betwwen Applecross and Sheildag and near Ardheslaig between Lochs Torridon and Shieldaig with Meall Ceann Na Creige in the foreground, Highland of Scotland.

 

One of my favourite personal 'finds' on our various trips to Scotland, a photographers dream to stand here and take some photos of this landscape.
