At Ever After Estates, Willow Grove embodies garden-soft romance. With its white pergola, lush florals, and candlelit aisle, this ceremony setting feels warm, intimate, and timeless — a perfect backdrop for heartfelt vows.
"When Cardinals Appear - Two" by Patti Deters. Two male Northern cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis) are seen perching on the branch of a birch tree, clustered together as if in a meeting or at a party. These bright red songbirds are popular with beginning birders as they are easy to spot and easy to identify. These twins were seen near a winter birdfeeder in Minnesota, where they are generally the first birds to arrive every morning.
The popular saying "when cardinals appear, angels are near" is credited to an untitled poem by American poet, Victoria McGovern (a verse is shown below). In history, the first reference to cardinals and the afterlife has been found in Native American cultures. Today, many people like to believe that when they see a cardinal, it means a loved one from heaven is sending them a cheerful hello. Another version of this sentiment is "When Cardinals appear, loved ones are near", as is depicted in this artwork.
UNTITLED
May you come to find comfort in and remember,
Cardinals appear when angels are near.
So go now, sit outside and drink your tea.
Keep a look out for the little red bird,
It is there your loved ones will be.

In the serene waters of Namibia’s coast, a flamingo dips its head, creating a perfect mirror image in the still blue shallows. This elegant wader is not just a symbol of beauty — it’s an icon of balance, grace, and the wild soul of Africa’s wetlands.

This might be my personal favorite from the 5.2 mile round trip up and back through the Narrows slot canyon. The light changes in here drastically as the minutes pass by. As sunlight penetrates the narrow gorge opening above, the bounce light illuminates the walls with an ethereal glow revealing amazing textures and shapes.
“Even the smallest light may guide us through the deepest shadows — for hope, like magic, dwells in humble places.”
The sun dips slowly behind the rugged peaks of the Caramulo Mountains, spilling molten gold and amber across the valleys below. Shadows stretch and curl, folding the hills into quiet mystery, while the sky blazes with colors that seem almost too vivid to be real. In this fleeting moment, the world feels suspended between day and night, a gentle pause where time itself seems to breathe. The mountains stand eternal, guardians of the fading light, as if whispering secrets only the wind can carry.
"Floral Triptych - Purple and Orange" by Patti Deters. Isolated blossoms close-ups (macro) of three bright flowers include a Purple Morning Glory, Orange and White Daffodil (narcissus), and bright orange hibiscus - all in full bloom. These pretty blooms have been isolated and placed on a black square background for dramatic effect. Each of the three flowers in this triptych are also available individually at the links below. This is really more of who I am and what I prefer to photograph nowadays.
Intimate landscapes, not macro closeups -- just a bit more artsy.
In this unique artwork I blended recycled fabric collage with oil painting to create a vibrant and textured landscape. Size 43 x 31 cm.

Auttiköngäs is one of the best places to visit in Rovaniemi for nature lovers. From dense forests to spectacular waterfalls, this area boasts breathtaking beauty. Auttiköngäs is a perfect destination for a day out. Here stands a rocky observation tower that offers a stunning view of the surroundings, including a beautiful winter's vista over the snow-capped peaks. The Kuusamontie Nature Tower is located 70 km east of Rovaniemi. The main attraction of the area is the 16-meter-high Auttiköngäs waterfalls. The forest in the Auttiköngäs area is so ancient that it can be considered a primary or pristine forest. The massive nature tower sits atop the rocky peak along the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail, 200 m above sea level. Accessible via a staircase and a platform, you can reach the observation deck. The tower is roofed and surrounded by a stunning ancient forest atop a hill, offering a magnificent view of the surrounding hills and the snow-capped peaks. Tables and benches are placed beside the nature tower. The location is equipped with a campfire pit, benches, a woodshed, and an annex. The annex features a natural stone fireplace, perfect for roasting sausages and brewing coffee. It also includes a large table and benches. Firewood is available in the nearby woodshed.
Auttiköngäs is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Finland, surrounded by the tranquility of the taiga forest. The Auttikönkä nature trail takes you over the waterfall, into the primeval forest, and towards the rocks. An interesting and diverse nature trail begins on the premises of the wooden café-restaurant Pirttikahvila. The popular Auttikönkää nature trail can be traversed on foot even in winter. Please be aware that especially stairs and hills can be very slippery, as there is no winter maintenance on the route. Photo of BieJee walking towards the Kuusamontie observation deck.
The road winds through Portugal’s breathtaking countryside — golden plains, mountain ridges, and hidden rivers waiting to be discovered. Each turn offers a new story, a new scent of pine or ocean air. Adventure isn’t a destination here; it’s the journey itself, written across the vast landscapes and quiet villages of this beautiful land.

From cloud-kissed heights where forests dream,
In lands of mist and emerald gleam,
There blooms a heart in crimson light—
Anthurium, bold and burning bright.
A "tail of flower," its name reveals,
With spadix poised like golden seals,
It paints the shade with glossy grace,
A painter's palette in nature’s space.
From Andes born, to far-off seas,
It graces homes and island breeze,
In Caribbean air it grows,
And Réunion's lush garden shows.
Not merely fair, but pure and wise,
It clears the breath, it purifies—
Toluene, ammonia fade,
Where flamingo flowers parade.
A gift of beauty, strong and clean,
In every bloom, a touch serene—
Bouquets of wonder, hands of care,
A living flame that scents the air.
Happy Tuesday, everyone 🌞

One of the more dramatic sunrises I experienced while in Arches NP. It happened to be the first sunrise I had the opportunity to head out for after a late arrival the prior night.
I look forward to a return trip to Arches, probably during the winter to avoid the hassles with tourism.

Expect the unexpected...
Ironically this from the first series of images I composed while on the Olympic Peninsula. So here I am, looking forward to cool damp forest shrouded in mist under wonderfully diffused light as I drove from Manitou in the wee hours of the morning to the Hoh rainforest. I made sure I stocked up on protective rain-covers for my gear just to B safe :)
So as I am turning east away from the Pacific coast, the morning's overcast was only the evening fog bank which was quickly burning off. The sky above me is getting bright, my blood boils as I'm realizing my first full day in the forest may be ruined by flat/harsh lighting.
Then, as I drive through the mighty Hemlocks and Spruce forest, this scene just appears before me :)
On my website, I've titled this one "Light Of Passage". I recently (as of 2024) decided to add it to the wall art selection that I show at various juried Fine Art Fairs throughout the year. I'm pleasantly pleased that this scene really connects with people, and they purchase quite often :)

A quiet moment at the edge of the world — she stands before the ocean as the sun melts into gold.
The wind carries stories, the waves whisper peace, and the light feels like a secret only the heart can hear. 🌊🌅

Hiking late afternoon for a sunset at Hidden Lake at Logan Pass, encountered a sizable gathering of Bighorn about a mile or so in.
To save on weight (you know what's coming), I was in here to shoot landscape scenes, not wildlife, so I left my only long lens safely locked in the camper. Luckily, the Big Horn sheep encroached within range, so I put my 24-70mm f/2.8 lens on to make a handful of images.
I was able to anticipate where they were headed and just waited for them to move into my viewfinder.
Beautiful, epic , vast .. a loving work of art and one of my favourite places to go photograph .. hope you enjoy these beautiful views of Portugals stunning countryside x

A frosty morning in the high-peaks region of the ADK. Steam fog rises off the still waters as sunlight illuminates the pond grasses and cattails.
A delicate dandelion bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun, standing as a symbol of fleeting moments and quiet wishes. The soft backlight highlights every fragile seed, ready to drift away with the whisper of the wind. Nature’s simple elegance captured in a single, tranquil frame.
Discover the breathtaking views of Ronda, a whitewashed town in Andalusia dramatically perched on rugged cliffs. This iconic spot showcases the harmony between nature and traditional Spanish architecture, with panoramic views that stretch across lush valleys and distant mountains.

Some of the final images from Arches N.P. were from Landscape Arch. Of course, on the drive all the way up (my final stop in Arches) I had high hopes to get some nice color for the sunset. I tried for sunset on (2) different occasions with "meh" results. Bluebird skies and of course, one overcast evening.
I finally found a composition I wanted to make, and the sky looked promising, then - wait for it - I get people in the way! Ughh. Yep, I began to panic and was on the verge of losing my patience. I'm pretty sure someone caught my facial expressions and within a few seconds, I had the arch to myself :)

"Half Sunflower Abstract Vertical" by Patti Deters. This macro closeup of half a sunflower is bright and cheerful, and makes for great nature-inspired abstract art. The bold yellow contrasts with the reddish brown seedhead. Shown here in a vertical orientation, you could really place this with any side up to great effect. You can see more flowers and other flora at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/half-sunflower-abstract-....
Where water meets land, moments linger between the ebb and flow. The shore holds stories—of tides, wind, and time—that whisper to those who pause and listen. This image captures the quiet poetry of nature, a place where reflection and serenity meet, and where every grain of sand seems alive with memory.

At daybreak on a chilly October morning, I did the rock-skip routine to reach a slender peninsula just off Ricker Pond. From this vantage point, I could compose the scene with a pleasing sense of symmetrical balance.
A delicate steam fog drifted across the still water, softening the distant shoreline and casting an ethereal glow over the scene.
