When I was posting this I asked my pup if she knew what it was a photo of. Being very clever, and able to count, but not a great speller, she replied woof woof ;)
Have a great week everyone!
The forest lives in motion—wild winds, falling rain, unseen dangers always near.
But in the midst of it all, she holds her baby close, calm as the eye of a storm.
Her embrace is shelter, her heartbeat a rhythm older than the trees around them.
This is how life begins in the wild: not with fear, but with trust, strength, and quiet love.
Beneath the quiet hush of the forest floor, where the light barely filters through the canopy, a moment of life unfolds in secret. With wings like velvet painted in iridescent blue, the Archduke butterfly descends—not to bask in sunlight, but to feast on decay.
A forgotten fruit, shriveled and blackened, becomes a treasure trove of nutrients. The butterfly unrolls its slender proboscis and drinks deeply, drawing sustenance from what the forest leaves behind. There is elegance in this moment—where beauty meets the cycle of life and death, where even rot plays a vital role.
Here, in the silence, the Archduke reigns—not by grandeur or glory, but by the quiet persistence of life in the shadows.
Here in Australia, Sunday is National Tree Day, with Schools Tree Day being tomorrow, Friday. Organised by Planet Ark, Schools Tree Day is a time when students and communities across the country come together to plant trees, learn about the environment, and build a deeper connection with nature. As you can imagine, there are so many varied ways to get involved.
Since I haven’t been able to get out with the camera lately, I’ve taken the opportunity (one-handedly) to do some culling of the archives. This image of these very orderly trees was taken during a hot air balloon flight over the Hunter Valley wine region: a peaceful memory of a spectacular view.
Hope your week is going well! Thanks for taking a look, I really appreciate your comments and support.
"The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit." – Nelson Henderson 🌱
In the cool stillness of Batu Caves, a monkey sits in thought.
Unseen by most, a tiny flea clings to its face—
a silent companion in a moment that feels almost human.
One ponders the world. The other simply lives.
She spoke to no one,
yet the trees leaned in—
each step a secret,
each glance a hymn.
In the hush of moss and memory,
the forest listened.
Amidst the serene landscapes of Darjeeling, we found ourselves at the Rock Garden, a place where nature’s beauty is at its most captivating. The cascading waterfalls, with their graceful descent, created an atmosphere of tranquility and awe. Yet, it was your appreciation of the scene that truly elevated the experience.
As the water flowed over the rocks, its steady rhythm seemed to mirror the quiet elegance with which you observed it. Your thoughtful gaze, filled with admiration for the purity and simplicity of nature, made the moment even more profound. The stillness of the surroundings only amplified the quiet joy I felt watching you embrace the beauty of this natural wonder.

Beneath the sunlit African skies,
Where golden savannas stretch and rise,
A gentle shadow graces the land,
The Kudu walks, so noble, so grand.
With spiral horns like stories untold,
Crowning a creature both brave and bold,
Its coat, a canvas of stripes and hues,
Blends with the earth in camouflaged views.
Through acacia groves and bushy terrain,
It strides in silence, proud and contained.
A symbol of grace, a guardian's dream,
A fleeting whisper by a forest stream.
Eyes like the dusk, deep pools of care,
Reflecting the wild, untamed and rare.
The heartbeat of Africa beats in its chest,
In the Kudu’s stride, nature's best.
By moonlight’s glow or sun's warm kiss,
It lives in balance, a world of bliss.
A keeper of secrets, ancient and wise,
The Kudu stands where wilderness lies.
Oh, Kudu, spirit of the land,
Forever wild, forever grand.
Through your beauty, the wild survives,
A living treasure where nature thrives.

Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.

That is probably one of my favorite bird captures of the last months. This robin was quite restless, barely sitting for a short moment on the same place. Therefore, I was absolutely cheerful that I had the chance to capture it in that few seconds it had taken a seat on that stone before it flew away.

The pose, though not traditional yoga, embodies the essence of mindfulness and the beauty of being present in the moment, resonating with the natural rhythm of the waves and the serenity of the island setting.
