Taken in my local park on a Summer's day.

The copper leaves on the trees were casting lovely shadows on the pathway and the scene was inviting one to sit and soak up the atmosphere overlooking the lake.

Jardbodin naturebath, Iceland.

After a day with so much cold, the best way for finish my excursion was this pleasant bath in the warm and blue waters of Jardbodin nature baths, Myvatn region, Iceland.

Myvatn, Iceland. Vikings sacred place.

Thorin luolan Mývatnin kylän läheisyydessä on miesten rituaali kylpypaikka, jossa naiset eivaät kylve (naisilla on vieressä Freyjan luola).

Tourists' rental cars seem to be admiring the view of volcanic ash cones, lava spatter cones and steam vents in the vicinity of Myvatn Lake, naturebath and hot springs. This is in the Jardbadsholar hills of NE Iceland.

We were touring the area, heading for the cargo-ferry at Vopnafjordur.

"The lagoon is a man-made lagoon which is fed by the water output of the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi and is renewed every two days. Superheated water is vented from the ground near a lava flow and used to run turbines that generate electricity. After going through the turbines, the steam and hot water passes through a heat exchanger to provide heat for a municipal water heating system. Then the water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal users to bathe in." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Lagoon_(geothermal_spa)

The Naturebaths are what simular to the Blue Lagoon in south of Iceland but less commercialized.

Mývatn Nature Baths, Iceland

An evening swim at Mývatn Nature Baths, a geothermal spa with water taken from depths up to 2.500 meters. The water contains a blend of minerals, silicates and geothermal microorganisms - and it has the most beautiful blue color :-)

The place is similar to the more famous "Blue Lagoon" in Keflavik near Reykjavik.

Iceland - Dettifoss to Hverarönd Geothermal Area

This was taken in the nature baths near Lake Myvatn. This was basically 1/10th the size of The Blue Lagoon, but instead tourists, they were frequented mostly by locals after a busy workday or kids after school.

The actual temperature / color of these lights was tungsten, so these were originally bright orange - I didn't feel that fit with the overall mood of the photo so I .. slightly .. corrected the white balance to where I feel it should be :)

Let me know what you think.

The sky around lake Mývatn was extremely colourful that evening!

Since the Myvatn Nature Bath was opened in 2004, it has proven to be one of the region's highlights.

Clouds of steem rise up from fissures deep in the earth's surface and end in a luxurious bath in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2500 meters.

Containing a unique blend of minerals, silicates and geothermal micro-organisms, the warm soothing waters benefit both skin and spirit alike.
