How beautiful is Náyade in this Dark Stars outfit? I have repainted her eyelids and now she has an obitsu body... that wig was meant to be provisional but now I can't imagine her with another one!

I liked this photo when I first looked at it, but my husband thought her neck looked freakishly long and weird. So then I got all self-critical about it and I decided I didn't like it. But then after the model told me she liked it and wanted it for her book, I remembered something--most models are models because they have some freakishly weird feature that is striking or unusual that makes them hard to look away from. I think that the angle I shot this at makes it a little more elongated, though, but I like that she looks almost giraffe like. ;)
So often I shoot something and overanalyze it to the point that I start to dislike it. Photos that a year ago I thought were amazing I wouldn't show anyone anymore. I often shoot several hundred photos a week of models or clients and rarely do I put them here. I am just incredibly critical lately... if a hair is out of place, if a body part looks weird, if there is an odd shadow, etc. In some ways it is good--I am learning and growing and continuing to develop my eye. But at some point I do need to realize that there is more to a photo than all the perfections, and that sometimes the imperfections are what make it so stunning to a viewer. Still, I feel the need to put only my best work on Flickr, and lately I don't feel like a lot of my work has been all that Flickr-worthy. But I do have things in progress and a few things I am re-shooting, so if I can just relax a little bit and stop being so damn critical, I will have new work to show you all soon.
