Curious weasel photographed at British wildlife centre. They are never still for long!

I actually got pretty close in the upper field..to try and turn on my camera..my battery was dead. So I went inside and started to charge a completely dead battery. I was able to charge bits at a time and get some shots..but they were further away. Lesson learned :) Make sure battery is always charged!

Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you can fly!

Golden moments of beauty...

There is beauty in simplicity...

She turned to the sunlight and shook her yellow head, and whispered to her neighbor:

Winter is dead.

Strawberry moon on the longest day of the year...

Hi all..trying to make my way to all of you wonderful images.

2016 Summer Solstice sunrise...

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and soon to be mothers!

I saved this photo just for Mother's Day!

Beneath the quiet hush of the forest floor, where the light barely filters through the canopy, a moment of life unfolds in secret. With wings like velvet painted in iridescent blue, the Archduke butterfly descends—not to bask in sunlight, but to feast on decay.

A forgotten fruit, shriveled and blackened, becomes a treasure trove of nutrients. The butterfly unrolls its slender proboscis and drinks deeply, drawing sustenance from what the forest leaves behind. There is elegance in this moment—where beauty meets the cycle of life and death, where even rot plays a vital role.

Here, in the silence, the Archduke reigns—not by grandeur or glory, but by the quiet persistence of life in the shadows.

Afterglow at the pier of a small marina at the frozen Lake Hjälmaren. It's 4:20 pm and getting dark very fast, although the days have already become longer since midwinter, 21:st of December. This amount of light would compare to around 11:30 pm at midsummer.

Happy Fence Friday!

Happy Furry Friday too!

The journey of life is sweeter when traveled with a dog...~Author unknown~

Hello my Flickr friends and a summer photo for you.

She is 84 this year.

The years have carved deep lines into her hands and feet, but she walks to this spot every week — alone, slow but steady. She always sits on the same block of concrete, next to the marble dog with the frozen gaze. Some say the statue was part of an old temple gate, long forgotten. Others say it once guarded a family shrine.

But for her, it’s just company. Quiet, faithful company.

She never speaks when she’s here. She doesn’t need to. Her eyes rest on the horizon, just beyond the trees, toward the place where her husband was cremated thirty years ago. She doesn’t cry — not anymore. Time has softened grief into something else: remembrance, perhaps... or simply routine.

The temple grounds have changed. Monks come and go. Grass grows wild, trees stretch taller. But the marble dog remains. So does she.

Maybe she sees a reflection of herself in the stone — weathered, unmoving, steadfast. Or maybe she just likes how the late light filters through the trees from that direction, touching her face and the statue the same way, like they’re part of one still frame in a story only she remembers.

And so she sits — the old lady and her silent friend — watching, waiting, remembering. Together.

Hello my Flickr friends and a go to spot when it gets misty.

Childhood is a special time...

Perched high above the forest floor, the Victoria Crowned Pigeon watches over its domain—a fragile but vital ecosystem. Endemic to the lowland rainforests of New Guinea, this regal bird is more than a symbol of avian splendor; it is a quiet guardian of biodiversity. Its elaborate crest mirrors the intricate web of life that surrounds it, while the forest canopy it nests in shelters countless other species. This image serves as a reminder of the delicate balance these ecosystems require and the pressing need to protect them from the encroaching threats of deforestation and habitat loss.

In the dense rainforest, a long-tailed macaque sits quietly on a branch, cracking open a coconut.

This behavior is common among wild macaques, who have learned to use their hands skillfully to access food.

Surrounded by damp earth, moss-covered rocks, and filtered light, the monkey takes its time — alert, yet calm.

Moments like this show how deeply adapted these primates are to their forest environment, relying on both instinct and intelligence to survive.

In this quiet moment, nature extends a silent invitation — to step closer, to pause, to listen. Trees speak not with words, but through presence, rustling leaves, and filtered light. This image captures that gentle call into stillness and calm.

Spent the day at Oak Alley yesterday and there were a whole lot of people there. Such a beautiful day. We missed the azaleas in bloom though. Thanks to my assistant for holding the ball.

Everyone is welcome at Brody's place. All you need is a pair of waders and a footstool. This one is for you Brody! It was so great to get to see you and shoot with you this weekend.

A vivid macro photograph capturing bees mid-forage on a blooming globe thistle. The spiky purple blossom contrasts beautifully with the soft green bokeh, spotlighting nature’s perfect pollination partnership. See more on frankschmielewski.myportfolio.com/
