An American Wigeon (Anas americana) tucked in close to the rushes, having a nap in the afternoon sunlight.

This beautiful male was taking a dip in a water puddle on the forest floor and quickly flying to a perch so as not to be exposed.

Wikipedia: The black-naped monarch or black-naped blue flycatcher (Hypothymis azurea) is a slim and agile passerine bird belonging to the family of monarch flycatchers found in southern and south-eastern Asia. They are sexually dimorphic, with the male having a distinctive black patch on the back of the head and a narrow black half collar ("necklace"), while the female is duller with olive brown wings and lacking the black markings on the head. They have a call that is similar to that of the Asian paradise flycatcher, and in tropical forest habitats, pairs may join mixed-species foraging flocks. Populations differ slightly in plumage color and sizes.

The black-naped monarch breeds across tropical southern Asia from Iran and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia and the Philippines. This species is usually found in thick forests and other well-wooded habitats.

The Diva Naps chair throw was washed and dried and I put it on my extra chair until I could position it on my office chair, Priscilla Grace found it and has spent two days off and on sleeping there, it seems to be her escape from the rampaging kitten, shot in North Carolina.

Look at my new design pattern! Red-naped Sapsucker feeding on an Aspen tree near Ketchum, Idaho

"Red-naped Sapsuckers are industrious woodpeckers with a taste for sugar. They drill neat little rows of holes in aspen, birch, and willow to lap up the sugary sap that flows out. The presence of sap wells is a good indication that they are around, but so are their harsh wailing cries and stuttered drumming."

There are two sizes of birds in this flock - a few of the birds are clearly larger than the others. I think that the larger birds may be Dunlins.

The Paiute tribe called this lake “Wit-sa-nap.” They believed that lake Wit-sa-nap was created by the Great Spirit as a safe haven for the magical fish—infused with the spirits of children—that swim through the surrounding mountains streams.

The lake is now called Convict Lake, a story I will include in a future posting.

Happy Wednesday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

This week's theme was an easy one for me since you can find me on the floor most of the time :) chose this one and hope it makes you smile - it is our cat napping in the sunshine, guarded by our little deer made of stone. Happy SoS! Have a good weekend and stay safe

The red-naped ibis (Pseudibis papillosa) also known as the Indian black ibis or black ibis is a species of ibis found in the plains of the Indian Subcontinent. Unlike other ibises in the region it is not very dependent on water and is often found in dry fields a good distance away from water. It is usually seen in loose groups and can be told by the nearly all dark body with a white patch on the shoulder and a bare dark head with a patch of crimson red warty skin on the crown and nape. It has a loud call and is noisy when breeding. It builds its nest most often on the top of a large tree or palm.

Yep Zoraya the golden girl always either with Milo or Misty. Today she chose to sleep beside her dadda.

High-up on the side of the Colorado Rockies, a Mountain Goat stretches out to find just the right "spot" for a mid-morning nap.

Even for a female, this red-naped sapsucker doesn't have as much red on the chin as the ones in the field guides. Maybe it'll grow in once she scarfs down enough ants.
