Do not be angry with the rain; it simply does not know how to fall upwards."
Quote - Vladimir Nabokov
Too much rain, caused by 'Ellen'…..Being wet and getting cold isn’t fun at all, but for those who love the rain nothing beats a rainy day. For me it will be a cozy day indoors ;-))

This is a male Karner Melissa Blue Butterfly posing in the typically sandy soil at Wilton Wildlife Preserve. This sub- species is endangered and relies on habitat support from the Nature Conservancy and the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation among other organizatons. The Karner Blue was first identified and described by the famous Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov, who was also an expert lepidopterist. He found them in the same habitat near Albany, NY.

My loathings are simple: stupidity, oppression, crime, cruelty, soft music.

"That swimming, sloping, elusive something about the dark-bluish tint of the iris which seemed still to retain the shadows it had absorbed of ancient, fabulous forests where there were more birds than tigers and more fruit than thorns, and where, in some dappled depth, man's mind had been born."

"No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody or something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom.”

Dandelions hold a special place in my heart. Where else can you find a valiant plant with a taproot that can grow to two feet in length?
