Atlas Air are the biggest operator of Boeing 747's, operating around 50, including four highly modified B747-400LCF Dreamlifters. Most of the fleet comprises of freight aircraft, however, this Boeing 747-400 features a VIP interior featuring 10 first class seats, 143 business class seats and 36 economy seats and is often used for charters for sports teams. Atlas Air also operate a high density Boeing 747-400 which is largely used for military charters.

The Boeing 747 was once a relatively common sight at Glasgow with Virgin Atlantic examples visiting multiple times a week pre-Covid. During the Covid lockdown two Virgin Atlantic B747 took up residence at Glasgow, awaiting their ultimate retirement, with the last Virign Atlantic B747 (G-VXLG) departing on 21st May 2020. The last B747 to visit was a Republic of Korea Air Force example (10001) during COP26. Sadly, this may well be the last B747 to visit Glasgow.

WEMBLEY 26/02/2023 Newcastle United vs Manchester United. Around 160 coaches turned up for the Carabao Cup Final and as usual a good selection of makes and models of varying ages came to have their photos taken by the assembled bus photting community. Highlights for this visit were a pair of McGill's Tourismos, a 1994 Jonckheere Monaco that has recently been on a couple of aid trips to Ukraine, 3x new Volvo 9700s for Sky Coaches, a mysterious Van Hool Astromega, and a suitably decorated minibus in NUFC colours!

Historically; Boxing Day has provided a large number of opportunities to see buses allocated to services which they ordinarily wouldn't be allocated to. With demand for services remaining at a high level on Boxing Day, especially to shopping centres where most retailers offer discounts on their products, the number of opportunities has decreased over the years, with more and more of Go North East's depots now being operational on Boxing Day, hence resulting in fewer of the aforementioned photograph opportunities. This year, every depot apart from Crook and Peterlee is operational, meaning that very few journeys excluding a number of late evening journeys (most of which have been funded by Metrocentre and/or NUFC) have been allocated a vehicle which wouldn't ordinarily be allocated to that service.

The final journey on "Connections4" service 4 this year was a short journey, operating between Washington Galleries (at 18:52) and Fallowfield Way only (at 18:59) - a 7-minute trip. This journey was formed by the "Red Arrows" branded Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 which had previously operated the 18:20 #X1 service from Newcastle to Washington Galleries.

Double-deck vehicles would not usually be allocated to "Connections4" service 4, due to a low bridge near Penshaw, but as this was a short journey terminating at Fallowfield Way, a double-deck vehicle could be allocated to this journey.
