In my opinion the best shot I got that night (arguable with the NS321 escaping the sunset), this is CSX train Q609 with NS and HLCX (in ICE paint) power moving south off the Callahan Sub, as the headlights of a northbound manifest brighten up the night.
Two Aces and a ES44 have a mixed freight rolling at a good clip thru the south Georgia countryside near Lenox.
With the shadows starting to get long on a fall afternoon, a Jacksonville-bound manifest pulls up to the south end of the Sycamore siding.
Not looking much like the rock-heavy manifest it used to be in pre-Precision Stock Manipulation times, 321 swings south by the peanut warehouses at Chula on the GS&F. A "bad cloud" is blowing up just to the north of Ashburn on this hot and humid July afternoon.
There are a lot of picturesque south Georgia agricultural scenes along the GS&F between Macon and Valdosta. Here just south of Arabi, the daily manifest for Jacksonville passes thru a pecan grove on a spectacular fall afternoon.
With an amazing EMD 710 roar, a matched trio of SD60s pull a heavy Jacksonville-bound 321 into Undailla on the GS&F. Had to think you could find a consist like this in 2016!
With it's epic matched consist of 3 NS SD60s (no Rhynes-with-duck-face cabs needed here!); 321 eases to a stop at Osgood to wait for northbound 330.
No, I usually don't take shots of backlit Dash 9s; and for sure don't waste time editing the shot to show in the internet. But in this case, I felt that the impressive South Georgia storm lighting warranted an exception.
