NS 1074 leads northbound intermodal 210 out of Jacksonvile, here seen at Crawford. The train is headed into the sunset for a night run to Atlanta.

A lashup of five NS six-axles lead NS train 210 across the downtown Jax drawbridge, headed north. The next stop is NS Simpson yard in Jacksonville, followed by its final destination of Atlanta.

An SD70 showing some obvious signs of an aging paint job leads three much newer engines on NS 210.

NS 210 with a lashup of four different SD units throttles up as it departs Jacksonville, FL, bound for Atlanta, GA. The SD80MAC on point is one of 12 aquired from CSX in 2015, and an SD70ACU, SD60M, and SD70M trail behind.

In a feeble attempt to make something out of this one, NS 210 with the merger consist arrives at Inman yard. 3-8-20

NS train number 210 creeps past the Beaver street signal point with a pretty decent lashup if you ask me.

In the early morning hours shortly after daylight savings times began, several foamers (yes, including me) gathered near peter street in downtown Atlanta to capture "The Merger Consist" arrive pulling 210 as it nears its destination of Inman yard. The Merger Consist is what the power for the train was referred to since it consisted of NS 8103 & 8099, the Norfolk & Western and Southern heritage units, respectively, since those were the two roads that merge to create what we now know as Norfolk Southern. 3-8-20

Not only a lovely evening sun on downtown Jacksonville, but a full moon fills out the only empty space in the shot of this 5 locomotive consist on NS210 a few days ago. And even though you can barely tell, there IS a freshly painted Spartan Cab Dash 9 on the point.

With one of the better NS lahups I've caught in a while, NS 210 ends its ridiculously fast run from Jacksonville, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia in NS Inman Yard. The crew spotted the train at the hump before taking the power to the shop.

NS Train 210 arrives at Simpson Yard as workers install fiber optic cable to connect all the way to Atlanta, GA.

We would try to go after the NS 330 which had been sitting in the siding south of Fargo only to get skunked. We continued our trek east via SR.94/2 and then Crawford Rd(which is in great need of regrading BTW) and then on in to Jacksonville the back way using Thomas Creek and Old Kings. Once at Simpson we expected to find the much anticipated "Goop Fest" with lots of rail fans. The number excluding us was 12 which included Ryan N. and Christian from Orlando. Of course the OCS was there sitting on the wye and NS crews were in no hurry to turn it so it could head back north. The YJ4 alias NS 210 as also there and had some extra power that would have to go to the engine track.

The Safari and the Escape headed north to Crawford. Tim, for the Better part of the day had been tracking T149, a unit coal train out of Craig, Colorado bound for Red Level. While We would see a few trains at the diamond including NS210, the UP run thru coal train was the priority. The train would finally make an appearance after 7pm with almost no sunlight. Power was Excon #7318 and #7882 fronting UP AC4400CW #6330.

With the OCS now long gone, the NS 210 would make its move across Old Kings Rd and head into Simpson to complete its work. Power for the day was 3 GE wide cabs, C40-9w's #9846 and #9145 flanking ES40DC #7658.
