Found this little sign during a walk through my neighbourhood some days ago. I tried to capture the mood it put me in. I am not completely happy with how it turned out but it's the best I could do (for now).
I want to get back into photography cause I haven't really done in a while (like a few years) and feel I have lost any progress I had already made after I started in 2009. So I decided to force myself to upload a picture at least once a month.

Just a little rain collecting on the leaves of our Fire Nandina bushes. Given that we are in the month of November...the obvious name for the photo was November Rain. I love these close-up shots with a shallow depth of field. Nice sharp focus on the subject and a lot of fuzzy, out-of-focus makes the photograph very interesting.

Camera - Nikon D5200
Lens – Nikkor 50mm fixed, f/1.8 with a 500T Close-up Lens attached
ISO – 400
Aperture – f/1.8
Exposure – 1/100 second
Focal Length – 50mm
The original RAW file was processed with Adobe Camera Raw and final adjustments were made with Photoshop CS5.

...though if sitting with my feet up in front of the telly seems a little decadent, I did swim a hundred lengths of my local pool early this morning, so my conscience is clear!

A small crowd gathers at an Edinburgh bus stop, shoulders hunched and coats padded against the cold November rain. Faces stay hidden, but the posture of each commuter speaks loudly enough, the quiet resignation of a wet weekday evening settling in around them.
Shot in the city centre, the light is thin and diffused by drizzle, with passing umbrellas just out of frame as pedestrians hurry through the damp rush-hour flow. Colour tones emphasise the muted palette of sodden jackets, glistening pavements, and the subtle pop of red lips from the woman seated in the shelter.
A fleeting study of routine and weather, the kind of moment that slips by unnoticed unless you happen to be watching from just the right angle, rain and all.

It's pretty much impossible to mimic November rain on a gorgeous Spring day but at least I tried. I had to, because I consider this to be the ultimate catharsis song. It's bittersweet and hopeful all at the same time and even if it makes you cry, you'll feel better afterwards.
