US Bank Stadium Minneapolis, MN. View from the top deck during the last Minnesota Vikings football game - looking out over 62,000 fans. The Vikings win 38/10 against da'Bears - Skol!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US Bank Stadium opened on July 22, 2016 costing a little over $1B to build. It has a fixed translucent roof and the worlds largest pivoting doors that provide a nice view of downtown Minneapolis and will swing open (in good weather) to let in some fresh air (plus a bird or two). The Stadium will host next years Supper Bowl LII on February 4, 2018 prompting the marketing campaign #BoldNorth.
During this game, a small group of protesters managed to sneak in ropes, climb up a ceiling truss, and hang a banner demanding US Bank to stop supporting the Dakota Access Pipeline energy project. You can see the white banner in the middle left of this picture. Security had to remove people who were seated underneath them in case they fell :O. If you zoom in, you can see one of the protesters silhouette on top of the banner. The climbers dangled on ropes until the end of the game and then were given a escort out to the local jail.

To Native Americans, eagles and eagle feather bear certain representations. They symbolize laudable qualities and traits such as trust, strength, honor, wisdom, power and freedom. Receiving an eagle feather during ceremonies or from elders ranks high on the list of honors bestowed on tribe members.
Sometimes it is the #imperfection that tells the story of the journey.
An exquisite mural; a compicated issue.
The mural "NODAPL" is painted on a wall of Greenbriar Foods, a supplier to organizations of snack foods and candies that will be sold in fundraising events. It is located at the intersection of Orleans and Division Streets in the Detroit Eastern Market area.
NODAPL refers to the Dakota Access Pipeline, which is designed to carry oil from America's northern border (North Dakota) to its southern border (Texas), where it will be refined. The project is controversial and complicated. President Obama stalled the project to the delight of environmentalists and Native Americans whose lands it crossed. President Trump reinstated approval for the project.
The artist, "Sintex", is a well-known and accomplished contemporary artist who once became controversial himself, by painting over another artist's mural.
11-24-17 UPDATE: A pipeline in this region allowed a leak 220,000 gallons of oil, exactly what protesters feared would happen.
Just before we got to the US Consulate the police tried to reroute the parade (so we couldn't stop in close proximity to it). One young woman simply broke away and strode down the empty street as the police jostled with the demonstrators behind her.
The sight of her was as if she was walking on water.
I wanted to get just how dramatic her solitary, confident stride was. Soon, the rest caught up. She didn't look back...

This is a special series, both for what it represents and a step toward an adventure of a new style. My first series from this set of images was done in black and white. Spontaneously and in parallel I saw a color version, more painterly. This is that vision.
In this series I hope to highlight individuals audacity of character and purpose, illustrated by its vibrant and radiant displays. Everyone came to me as being perfectly beautiful and I want to share some of those moments. Homage to all protector spirits out there as your activities and intent are noble, to work for the benefit of others. With hearts tranquil and wrathful openness, intent is grounded in the wisdom of interdependence and expressed in joyous prayer.
Acknowledgements:
Choying O’Brien - She came up while I was working on a different version of this image. Showing off a bit, we pursue the possible with photoshop layers and adjustments. Unbridled ideas volleyed back and forth. I arrived at this final image, which will set the bar for the subsequent visions.
Oceti Sakowin Camp, North Dakota - Over 200 Native American Tribes have gathered on the land of the Sioux to protect the water threatened by the encroaching North Dakota Pipe Line. A flag from each of the visiting tribes has been raised and lines the entry to the Camp. The Sioux welcome all to come join them.
