Geprägt von restaurierten Häusern aus Kolonialzeiten und ergänzt durch eine modern-luxuriöse Eco-Lodge, zeichnet sich das Stadtbild der Siedlung vor einer atemberaubenden Naturkulisse ab. Hier: das liebevoll zu einem tollen Restaurant restaurierte "Ortsvorsteherhaus"

The fact that Ilimanaq is one of Greenland's oldest settlements is evident not only from its history but also from its architecture. Characterized by restored colonial-era houses and complemented by a modern, luxurious eco-lodge, the townscape of the settlement stands out against a breathtaking natural backdrop. Here: the “mayor's house,” lovingly restored into a wonderful restaurant.

After having left Ammassalik on East Greenland we cruised through Prins Christian Sund to Anortalik on the West Coast. It was shocking to hear that some Years ago this Glacier built a high Ice-wall right at the Coast - and now it is disappearing more and more.......

Ilimanaq ist ein malerisches Dorf mit mehreren historischen Gebäuden. Diese Kolonialgebäude wurden liebevoll restauriert. Hier: der alte Kaufmannsladen und Veranstaltungssaal.
Ilimanaq is a picturesque village with several historic buildings. These colonial buildings have been lovingly restored. Here: the old general store and event hall.
Taken during a "street photography" workshop in Grønland, Oslo. I worked with an old SX-70 polaroid camera with a ND filter and 600 film. I approached random people on the street and asked to take their picture. Most were happy to work with me on my little portrait-project.

Norge stiller med et eget lag under VM i fotball for hjeml¯se (Homeless World Cup) i Edinburgh senere i sommer. Visitare le rovine di Nalanda, una delle più antiche università del mondo, è un'esperienza unica e commovente. L'università buddhista fu fondata nel V secolo d.C.. Si trova non molto distante da Bodhgaya nello stato del Bihar. Rimne uno dei più antichi luoghi di pellegrinaggio e insegnamento, certamente visitato da Buddha. Nel VII secolo lo stesso monaco cinese Hiuen Tsang lo visitò. Ne parla ampiamente nelle sue cronache: " l'Università vantava precedentemente 3000 insegnanti e filosofi e i monaci erano sostenuti da 200 villaggi del circondario. La biblioteca conservava 9 milioni di manoscritti, attraendo studiosi e discepoli da tutto l'Estremo Oriente. Andò distrutta tra le fiamme in seguito alle invasioni musulmane, che portano alla distruzione dei grandi monasteri. La sua esistenza cessa nel 1197.
Il pellegrino oggigiorno può notare i resti degli 11 monasteri e di diversi Chaityas, templi, costruiti prevalentemente in mattoni rossi. Sono sopravvissuti anche un'imponente scalinata, una biblioteca, una sala di lettura, dormitori, celle, forni e pozzi. Gli edifici a più piani appoggiavano su massicci terrazzamenti in mattone, con decorazioni in stucco raffiguranti tanto il Buddha quanto divinità indù e figure popolari.
