The NHS Spitfire flying over Halifax - The Calderdale Royal Hospital
(Edited - not the best shot as it was very overcast and grey ! but fortunately it flew through a rare bit of sun !!)
Last night Smeaton’s Tower on Plymouth Hoe was lit up blue in tribute to the NHS who have been working tirelessly during the Covid19 pandemic. So I took a wander up there and got a few shots. The lighthouse looked absolutely stunning and I felt it was a really lovely tribute to all of our amazing healthcare workers.

As much as I appreciated comments and feedback I would request no Awards or flashy gif comments, please. They will be deleted. Thank you.
A great tribute to our NHS. The last Thursday "clap for carers" tonight, I hope we carry on remembering what a fantastic job they do, often for little reward. Roughly 20%, 1 in 5, of NHS staff are non-British - I hope we remember what they have done for us after this crisis is over and turn our back on the isolationism and (sorry but it's true) racism that has infected our country
"Rainbows for the NHS" is a giant interactive "mosaic of hope" made up of thousands of pictures and stories, submitted to the People’s Picture during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can explore the mosaic and the many lives of the NHS, key workers, carers and people from across the country.

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” is playing the background while I’m safety cocooned by my computer trying to find the words to describe this photo. In the real world, teams of people are tirelessly dedicated to fighting a global pandemic. Under the media’s spotlight we hear daily accounts about their long shifts, their struggle to get the right equipment, their need to they help others despite the personal risk, the pain they feel as sometimes a battle is lost. But they have always done this. It is not new. It is just that now that we understand the fight they have been always been waging on our behalf. We owe them. It only now we see the real heroes in our society. I salute you.
The underside so I tell the whole story. Thanking the health service for fighting the covid 19 virus.

It's nice to see A&B Council giving a shout-out the NHS.
It would have been better if they had recognized NHS Scotland too.

The NHS is not a single UK-wide system. NHS England, NHS Scotland, NHS Wales, and Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland are separate, devolved health services. NHS Scotland is run by the Scottish Government, with its own policies, funding, and priorities, while NHS England is overseen by the UK Government’s Department of Health and Social Care. A rainbow for all our incredible NHS staff who are working tirelessly to help and look after us all during this Pandemic, we thank you all .
I spotted this tribute to the NHS and had to capture it. The Rainbow is being put in windows all across the UK show appreciation for all the health workers that are risking their lives daily.

The NHS Spitfire initiative allowed the public to nominate names to be written on a Spitfire aircraft, raising funds for NHS Charities Together. The initiative aimed to thank NHS workers and lift spirits during the covid pandemic.
Recently released from the Caledonia Paint Shop and adorned with rainbows to thank NHS staff is Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL 37530 - SF08SMU; seen in Baillieston heading for Faifley.
To be fair, this picture was taken in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester and there was a proper Ambulance in attendance at the incident. As it says on the cycle this is a quick response unit enabling the rider to speedily work their way through traffic to reach the accident or whatever may be waiting for them. These guys do a sterling job and save lives and this picture is not meant to be derogatory in any shape or form. If you know the state of the NHS system in the UK you will understand the irony of the title…!
My effort for Macro Mondays on the theme of Candy - Skiittles attempting to recreate last year's support for the NHS (and all the other key workers)
Street art in Newport Pagnell 1 of 2.
A sentiment I agree with after my recent stay in hospital. There may be a lot wrong in the UK but the NHS is something we can rightly be proud of.

The NHS Spitfire was a restored World War II aircraft that flew across the UK in tribute to NHS workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Operated by the Aircraft Restoration Company, it formerly had “THANK U NHS” painted on its wings and flew over 98 hospitals to honor frontline medical staff. People could donate to NHS Charities Together and have their loved ones’ names handwritten onto the aircraft as part of the fundraising effort .
