“I think you’re a fairy tale. I think you’re magical, and brave, and exquisite. And I hope you'll let me be in your story.”
― Laini Taylor, Strange the Dreamer
The next generation is now on the wing! A trip to Bempton on Thursday and the first time I have seen a juvenile Kittiwake flying! Aren’t they gorgeous! Sadly Kittiwakes are on the red list, the highest conservation priority - numbers have declined by 40% since the 1970s. So sights like this are to be treasured. Along with better managed fishing of sandeels, every little thing we can do to help slow/reduce climate change will help these beautiful members of the gull family, along with many, many other species.
The blue and green team have welcomed Spring. A bit too early, I think.
Storm Eunice was pretty ferocious today. Most people around me seem to have been lucky - I've only seen fences down - but I know it's been a lot worse elsewhere. Storms like this usually happen overnight, so it was strange to experience one in daylight, and even stranger to have such strong winds and sunshine at the same time. I hope everyone else has stayed safe too.
Europe - France - Paris - Châtelet les Halles : " Next station is ? " - " La prochaine station est ? "
...if you believe that sorta thing.
I believe this is a nifty sign. It's still there, and the Cleaners still in business.
This Norwich Terrier figurine, posed at the edge, mirrors the real-life adventurous spirit of actual Norwich Terriers. Not stopped by the space ahead, curious to find out more. Figurine is 3" long, 1.5" high. Over the years I've had the great pleasure of sharing life with 3 Norwich Terriers. Two came to me as adults from the same litter!

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
Exam next Friday. Potentially going camping afterwards so I should get some more interesting shots there I assume! I have 1-2 more photos to upload from this day at the beach. I'll get around to that sooner or later.
My first explore! Woohoo! Thank you to all my lovely contacts! Kind of fitting that my 100th upload is my first explore, no? Please feel free to browse through some of my other beach work!
On another note, I hope you're all well. Thanks for your kind comments all.
Take care,
Ben
[17:36] Taladis Tower wrinkled his nose as he came down from the small ramp. Reaching up the dark cat pulled the cigar from his mouth - tossed it to the floor and proceeded to step on it. He walked forward and leaned on the railing that led to the beach, looking over at the Cyborg Zero.
[17:39] Damienn Kiranov is blatantly amused when he sees the black cat walk up to the railing. He takes a drink from his flask, then puts it back in his pocket. A wry smirk crosses his lips as he speaks. "Well well well. Look what we have here. Sure as hell took you long enough. Surprised?"
[17:41] Taladis Tower grumbled in response to the man's comment. Instead, he moved down the sidewalk - as he walked he was unwrapping the gauntlets around his wrists. He tossed them on the ground as he continued to walk, only leaving the wrappings on his hands. Closing his fists, he just looked at Kiranov with that cold expression.
[17:43] Damienn Kiranov yawns. "Oh God. Now we go to this again... What are you gonna do now? Hmm? Seems kinda pointless to start a brawl when we don't have an audience."
[17:44] Taladis Tower wrinkled his nose at Kiranov's comment before practically growling out, "This isn't about people watching." His ears falling against his head, "You were supposed to be dead."
[17:45] Damienn Kiranov laughs and shakes his head. "You've got to be kidding me... Do you really think they would've left out any explosives training when I worked as an operator?"
[17:47] Taladis Tower grumbled lowly, "I don't care. I walked away because I expected you to be dead. You shot me, you left me for dead. I left /you/ for dead, you were just supposed to die. Now - we're somewhat at a crossroads, aren't we?"
[17:49] Damienn Kiranov pops his knuckles and takes his flask out of his pocket. "I guess we would be. So, what's your choice? I could care less about continuing this boring rivalry, since you're not the one I was looking for." He takes a drink from his flask, then pockets it.
[17:50] Taladis Tower watches Kiranov's movements carefully. Tal's cold gaze soon locking on the man's face once more. He wrinkled his nose, a grumble escaping his lips, "Next time that I see you? This won't be 'boring.'" Tal growled as he turned away, then knelt over to pick up his gauntlets before wandering off.
On its first day in revenue service, a next-generation Acela set brings Amtrak 2170 northbound across the Dock lift bridge. This was the second of two northbound trains run on the launch day, running all the way up to Boston. A third weekday set was added recently (November 2025).

With a deserted barn in the background, a rusted old car hitched to a pleasure boat sits hub deep in grass, remaining in place until its loaded up and taken to a junkyard. My father was a workaholic, rarely taking us kids for anything resembling a vacation. Never one to crush our hopes, he always mentioned "next week".
The gardens of Alderdi Eder ("beautiful place" in Basque) are located in San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa). Located in front of the City Hall and the bay of La Concha, they are one of the most typical prints of the city.
It was created in 1880 in a former military maneuver camp next to the bay of La Concha. Its first objective was that of a place of recreation and attractions, so a circus, a velodrome and a puppet theater were located in its enclosure. However, in 1887 a casino was built - the work of Luis Aladrén Mendivil and Adolfo Morales de los Ríos - which later became the headquarters of the City Council of San Sebastián, so the entire area was reformed.
The garden was designed by the French gardener Pierre Ducasse and stands out for the presence of a hundred tamarinds that provide shade to the space, in addition to flower beds and green hedges, a pond and various fountains and statues.
Words are the worst way to say what I have to say, but sometimes you can't play how you want to play to show it well. And this is one splinter of a sentence, both a pain and a pleasure to try to expel. But I have to tell about the years of influence and artless advice that can still only escape in a struggling, stilted excuse for a smile. And when you're parked over on the wrong side of nowhere no amount off nothing is going to make it worthwhile. A touch, subdived, rinsed, and sold, before the hands have a chance to get cold, as an eyelash pries an hour from the schedules of the uninvolved. And your sills so-called insulation can only sigh at December Sundays, unsolved. So like the transportation of the suns, you must hold steady to the ones who light your mornings, nights, and aftermoons. And if you should grow angry with the pace of chance, don't be afraid to make some plans for December Sundays soon. Today you missed her getting up once again. Well boy, you've got to listen to me-promise her you'll rise this day next year from this very bed.
ABERCORN CHURCH
REV. A. Scott Marshall
Visitors Welcome
This sign is now in Abercorn Museum next to Abercorn Church.
Abercorn Church and the site of a noted Anglian Monastery are recorded in the small stone museum. The building is made of stone and it houses stone. Records left in stone speak through symbols and style across history to inform our minds.

Outlander locations - Abercorn Church and Cemetery / Graveyard
“Filming for season 4 took place at this churchyard in Linlithgow. The graveyard played the part, in ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’, of Frank’s final resting place after his fatal car crash. We see Bree visiting Frank’s grave shortly after his death.”
“Abercorn Church and Graveyard is one of several Outlander locations in the surrounding locality. Barely a mile south is Midhope Castle (Lallybroch), and the much used Hopetoun House is an equal distance to the east. Blackness Castle, used as Fort William in season 1, is also nearby, less than 5 miles away.”

It was exciting to see this juvenile Red bellied Woodpecker show up the other day, checking out the seed-leg feeder. I can only guess mom and/or dad showed him where to come for some good eatin' in the neighborhood. LOL!
Here's hoping to more Red bellies in the future, and that they will also show their young where some of the best buffet dining can be found.
a good new week
listen :
… Sally called when she got the word
And she said, "I suppose you've heard 'bout Alice"
So I rushed to the window and I looked outside
And I could hardly believe my eyes
As a big limousine rode up into Alice's drive
… Oh, I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go
I guess she's got her reasons, but I just don't wanna know
'Cause for 24 years I've been living next door to Alice
24 years just waitin' for a chance
To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance
Now I gotta get used to not living next door to Alice....
