I chose tulips for this week's Sliders Sunday image as to me, they represent new beginnings.
I know that hundreds of thousands of people in the southern United States have been profoundly impacted by Hurricane Ian and just before that, Hurricane Fiona devastated the Maritime provinces of Canada. I wish each of the affected people well as you begin to re-build and make sense of the world around you. Please take good care and know that those of us in Flickrland are thinking of you.

My Image is a symbol and a message to my french friends
about a wonderful landmark that belongs to all of us.
Spring is the promise that everything can begin again, letting go and embracing something new.
NOTRE-DAME CATHEDRAL - one of the most iconic symbols of beauty and history in Paris was damaged in a massive fire on April. 15th/16th 2019. A tragedy.
On the night of the fire, France's president Emmanuel Macron announced that the cathedral, which is owned by the state, would be rebuilt, and launched an international fundraising campaign the next day.
Fortunately, It will be restored.
And a miraccle of Nature's bag of tricks appeared:
Notre Dame has housed three beehives on the first floor on a roof over the sacristy, just beneath the rose window, since 2013. Each hive has about 60,000 bees. The 180,000 bees are alive and busy.

Olivier Latry, einer der vier amtierenden Organisten der Notre-Dame de Paris führt tief hinein in das Innerste der Orgel.

Wishing everyone all the best for 2017. It's the support and interaction that makes Flickr a cut above a personal photography website. So I'd like to thank everyone who left their mark on my images this past year, it was truly appreciated.
A beautiful scene captured at Elvaston Castle, Derbyshire. As you know I love this place and I also have a love affair with trees and clouds and the sky. This scene is so alive for me with all the fallen leaves feeding the earth and fauna around it, the new growth of tree branches and leaves; the budding flowers to the lower right-side of the frame -and then the contrail seen in the background at the height of the tree. A slower shooter speed and neutral density (ND) filter would have caught the steady movement of the clouds and the impact of the swirling wind but I wanted to just freeze that moment as an image for all time.

II took this photo during my first walk in the forest in 2021; I spotted this tree, tall and dead, among a stretch of young trees (part of the forest recently replanted) some of which still have their leaves (they must be hornbeams).
As I was looking for the angle of the shot, the sky became tinged with orange-pink, giving the scene more relief.
My first shot of 2021 !
First day of the year is a day full of promises : a new beginning of what continues !
