Nectar is a sugar-rich liquid produced by plants. It is produced either by the flowers, in which it attracts pollinating animals or by extrafloral nectaries, which provide a nutrient source to animal mutualists providing anti-herbivore protection. It is produced in glands called nectaries.

For today’s DailyShoot assignment: Make a photograph with a different point of view than you normally would consider.

 

I happened to catch an incoming insect in this low-angle shot.

 

They are going to be unhappy, but the second one I took was wildly overexposed and so I'm not posting it. This isn't something against the guy with his hand in front of his own face :-)

The iconic Old Nectar manor house combines early 1800's Cape Dutch style and atmosphere with 21st century comfort.

 

Home to the van der Spuy family since 1941, we accommodate six guests in comfort in the manor house and we can accommodate up to 16 additional guests in the adjacent villas, creating the opportunity for large family groups to enjoy the unique Old Nectar experience together.

 

Our accommodation offers two 6x5 meter en-suite bedrooms located either side of the 7x6 meter 1815 voorkamer reception room and two single bedrooms, one en-suite and one sharing. The 8x5 meter Georgian and Regency diningroom seats up to twelve and both the voorkamer and the diningroom have large open fireplaces.

Our modernised and spacious early 1800's traditional Cape Dutch kitchen is at the heart of Old Nectar's indoor and outdoor living. The manor house has its own garden and terrace surrounds overlooking the world-renowned Old Nectar gardens and the Jonkershoek mountains.

 

Safe parking and security are all part of the Old Nectar manor house experience. Full daily servicing, cooked breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas or evening canapes are provided by us. Catered lunches and dinners can be arranged on request.
