A city with a history of over 2300 years, the second largest in Greece, the birthplace of great personalities and ideas, situated at a strategic position in the Balkan peninsula, where East meets West. Cosmopolitan, charming, mysterious, enchanting and friendly, Thessaloniki was and will always be unique in every aspect.
The statue of Alexander the Great, riding on top of his faithful horse Bucephalus, is situated at the Nea Paralia (“New Seafront”). The statue was erected in 1973-74 and is more than 6 meters high. It is very close to the White Tower, the landmark monument of Thessaloniki. There are many more attractions to see when you are walking along the Nea Paralia, such as thematic parks, sculptures, museums, trip boats, street artists, restaurants, you name it. When the sun shines, a walk by the seafront looking at one side the busy streets loaded with cars and shops with thousands of people and at the other side the sea of Thermaikos Gulf with cargo ships crossing to the port, can be quite a rejuvenating experience!
Warm regards to all, may your days be brilliant with light and joy!

"New Paphos" was the term used in antiquity for the Hellenistic and Roman parts of the town. The place is now an archaeological site. These two pieces of a column found in the vicinity of the "Villa of Theseus", a 2nd century AD Roman government building, demonstrate two or three things: the way the sandstone columns were interlocking, the fact that they were covered in plaster, and thirdly, that, very likely, they were painted.
A small uninhabited Greek island of volcanic origin located in the Aegean Sea, within the flooded Santorini caldera. Nea Kameni and the neighbouring small island Palea Kameni (the new and old burnt islands) have formed over the past two millennia through repeated eruptions of lava and ash. (from Wikipedia)

"New Paphos" was the term used in antiquity for the Hellenistic and Roman parts of the town. The place is now an archaeological site. Seen here are some of the remnants of a very large Roman villa (2nd century AD), the official residence of the Pro-Consul in charge of the island of Cyprus. The villa has been called the house of "Theseus" due to a floor mosaic that is shown in the next image.
