George was our tour guide. He worked at KSC for over 40 years. He has some amazing stories!!

"As the chief of fire training, Hoggard and his crew worked closely with astronauts to teach them how to handle emergencies on the launch pad or on the ground following a problem."

 

He's retired from that role and now shares his vast treasure trove of stories and knowledge with visitors.

I fell in a ditch mere moments before this photo was taken, lol.

We were guided through the facility by Clay Anderson, a veteran of four space missions including a 6-month stint on the ISS (Expedition 16) and recent Shuttle Mission STS-131 which landed just one month before this day
