NASA S-3 photo by Tom Hartline

This one was unexpected. I didn't win the original bid because the reserve price wasn't met. The seller then contacted me and said "you want 'em, you've got 'em".

The lettering reads "FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF PROGRESS IN SPACE OCTOBER1,1958 - 1963".

The pen (1 of 2) says "NASA MANNED SPACECRAFT CENTER".

All 3 pieces are in marvelous condition.

Convair 990A

NASA

Mojave Airport, CA.

March 1984.

This aircraft was in and out of service with NASA. It was reactivated again by NASA in 1988, to act as the Landing Systems Research Aircraft (LSRA) for the space shuttle. New landing gear was installed, and landing tests were made at Edwards AFB, about a 10 minute flight away from Mojave.

Driving to NASA Orlando. Nice scene on both side.

Forward cabin, showing installed seats and fixtures, and the exposed structure behind. An interesting "cut-away view" showing how the passenger elements interact with the structure of the aircraft, IMHO.

The striking feature in this image, acquired by the HiRISE camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on March 19, 2014, is a boulder-covered landslide along a canyon wall. Landslides occur when steep slopes fail, sending a mass of soil and rock to flow downhill, leaving behind a scarp at the top of the slope. via NASA go.nasa.gov/1OUex6z

I found the selfie that two of my daughters and I submitted to NASAs Global Selfie on Earthday! Out of around 34000 pics I was amazed to find our pic within a minute! Thanks for putting us near the top on the right hand side NASA! :)

NASA Shuttle Bus- April 30th, 2014- Entourage

We live right outside of NASA here in Houston, They retired the 747 used to ferry the Space Shuttles after their flights. They retired the Jumbo Bus and hauled it in pieces to its final resting spot at the Space Museum on the NASA Grounds. They had to move all the pieces at night and it came right by my neighborhood last night! What an event They had everything shut down! It as quite a sight. It was stopped here for 30 minutes while utility companies moved overhead wires at an upcoming intersection, making for a great photo-op!

Taking part in the Safari 2000 project in Pietersburg, South Africa

SAFARI 2000 – Pietersberg, 2000

The Southern African Regional Science Initiative (SAFARI 2000) project was an international science initiative to study the linkages between land and atmosphere processes conducted from 1999-2001 in the southern African region. In addition, SAFARI 2000 examined the relationship of biogenic, pyrogenic, and anthropogenic emissions and the consequences of their deposition to the functioning of the biogeophysical and biogeochemical systems of southern Africa.

During September 2000 NASA flew an ER-2 out of Polokwane, also known as Pietersburg. The ER2 carried a number of imaging instruments and was accompanied by low level in situ measurements conducted from a University of Washington C-580. Flying took place over South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia. The project was supported and supplied by a USAF C-141 and K -135 from March AFB. The single seater ER-2 flew across the Atlantic from Recife Brazil.

Cassini, a robot spacecraft launched in 1997 by NASA, became close enough in 2002 to resolve many rings and moons of its destination planet: Saturn. At that time, Cassini snapped several images during an engineering test. Several of those images were combined into the contrast-enhanced color composite featured here. Saturn's rings and cloud-tops are visible toward the image bottom, while Titan, its largest moon, is visible as the speck toward the top. When arriving at Saturn in July 2004, the Cassini orbiter began to circle and study the Saturnian system. A highlight was when Cassini launched the Huygens probe that made an unprecedented landing on Titan in 2005, sending back detailed pictures. Now nearing the end of its mission, Cassini is scheduled to embark on a Grand Finale phase in late 2016 where it will repeatedly dive between the giant planet and its innermost rings. via NASA ift.tt/1XoVNCc

Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge is the premier national science competition for students in grades 5 through 8. The Young Scientist Challenge is designed to encourage the exploration of science among America’s youth and to promote the importance of science communication. In 1999, Discovery Communications, LLC, launched the competition to nurture the next generation of American scientists at a critical age when interest in science begins to decline. Over the past nine years, more than 540,000 middle school students have been nominated to participate in the competition, and winners have gone on to speak in front of members of Congress, work with the nation’s top scientists, and pursue academic careers in the sciences.
