here's a little (or big) ray of sunshine for my flcikr friends in the frozen, cold and snowy tundra! hang in...and have a great day!
I had been searching for a local field of poppies for a couple of weeks and finally came across one the day before my holiday. This meant I couldn't shoot it until my return.
Inevitably on my return the seed heads were too dominant in the image. Therefore, turning to blur shots this image was made after the usual numerous attempts. There has been only very minor processing through Lightroom

The Pancolar 55 f/1.4 is one of the most radioactive lenses made of thorium-based glass. Thorium itself decays by emitting only alpha particles. The lens housing already protects against them. But the daughter products of thorium decay (actinium, radium, radon, polonium...) emit both neutrons and electrons. The electrons, being inhibited in the lens body, cause additional X-ray radiation... As a result, the level of radioactivity is simply exorbitant. I decided to save my own health a little and created a protective sarcophagus around the case))) made of several layers of lead and X-ray protective rubber. To improve the appearance, I put two black aluminum cylinders with a warning sticker.
After the modification, the weight of the lens increased from 400g to 700g, the diameter increased to 79mm, and the level of radioactivity on the side of the lens dropped to 117 microrentgen. At the same time, there is a background of 6400 microrentgen from the rear lens. But there's a camera, a metal adapter, and a distance that protects me from radiation.
The front protection consists of a conventional UV filter that removes only alpha radiation.
Close to Saddle Tor, Holwell Tor on Dartmoor a collection of rocks and a tree made for a great composition which was shot during a 1 to 1 photography workshop with Russell Stone. Post processing with Photoshop and the Silver Efex Plugin took the shot to this moody image of Dartmoor. Thanks Russell for an enlightening day.

I was once interested in the following question: how will the aperture with a smooth change in permeability affect the images? I didn't have a filter with a circular gradient. I had to make a hole in a piece of felt and fluff its edges. And it turned out what's in the picture: on the right is the original state, on the left is the modified one.
An example of images with this lens with a modified aperture:

As a result of the modification:
1. The sharpness of the lens has increased slightly, as the equivalent aperture has become ~ f/2 (instead of f/1.4).
2. There is a glow of bright areas in the image.
3. The lens pattern has acquired a new character.
