This young Hawk was chasing insects on the ground and offered amazing closeness. Here it is perching on a metal fence so I decided to do a portrait. No crop!

Onofrio y Antonio Petruzzelli, comerciantes y constructores de barcos de Trieste, presentaron los diseños para el teatro y dos años después, en 1903 estaba terminado.
Durante la noche del 26 y 27 de octubre de 1991, el teatro fue completamente destruido por el fuego, resultado de un incendio provocado.
El Petruzzelli, reconstruido íntegramente con fondos públicos en 2008, fue devuelto a la ciudad de Bari el 7 de septiembre de 2009
En la actualidad es e uno de los más bellos teatros de ópera de Italia y el cuarto en cuanto a capacidad. Puede albergar hasta 4000 espectadores.

Neoregelia carolinae, commonly called "blushing bromeliad", is an epiphetic evergreen perennial that is native to tropical rain forests in southeastern Brazil. Narrow, leathery, shiny, spine-tipped, lance-shaped leaves (to 12" long and 1.5" wide) appear in funnel-shaped rosettes. Outer leaves are green except for red blushing near the base of the inner leaves. Inflorescences are violet to lavender and appear in the socket center of the leaf rosette.

Es tut sich was Brenner: Nachdem TX Logistik schon seit längerer Zeit auf Vectrons von Alpha-Trains setzt, hat auch Lokomotion nun vier Maschinen der Leasinggesellschaft dazubekommen.
Drei der vier Loks wurden Ende Januar direkt aus München Allach übernommen und nach Kufstein gebracht. Tags darauf durften die neuen Zugpferde bereits die Brennernordrampe erklimmen, am Haken der "Terratrans/Paneuropa" aus Bremen.
Bei Wolf am Brenner gelang vom Kombizug ein Foto, kurz bevor der Hochnebel, welcher sich aus dem Inntal herauf ausbreitete, ein schönes Winterfoto. Wenn auch mit etwas wenig Schnee.
Ausgestattet sind die Loks sowohl mit dem DAI-Paket (Deutschland, Austria, Italy), als auch mit dem OST-Paket (Ungarn, Tschechien, Polen, Slowakei, Kroatien und Slowenien).
Ob die Loks so verbleiben oder auch dann zum Zebra "mutieren" wird sich in den nächsten Wochen zeigen ;).

ITA _Il suo nome scientifico, "Pinus leucodermis" significa letteralmente "pelle bianca" per il caratteristico colore bianco argenteo che assume il tronco degli alberi ormai morti.
Gli alberi ormai privi di vita, senza corteccia, con tronchi chiari quasi bianchi non sono solo resti inanimati e suggestivi di alberi in qualche caso millenari, ma rimangono vere e proprie sculture, testimoni muti della storia

"Victoria amazonica" also called "Victoria regia" is a species of flowering plant, the second largest in the water lily family Nymphaeaceae. Its native region is tropical South America, specifically Guyana and the Amazon Basin.
The first published description of the genus was by John Lindley in October 1837, based on specimens of this plant returned from British Guiana by Robert Schomburgk. Lindley named the genus after the newly ascended Queen Victoria, and the species "Victoria regia".

The rose bush of pitiminí, pitiminí or mini rose bush it is an evergreen shrub fruit of a dwarfism mutation of some ancient roses and a group of hybrids of modern garden roses that occurred in seventeenth century Europe and China. Its height ranges from 20 to 100 centimeters. It develops erect stems with dark green oval leaves with a serrated margin. From spring to late autumn, it produces flowers that range from 5 to 12cm in diameter, fragrant and of very varied colors (yellow, pink, red, white).
They are called pitiminí rose because of their size. Although a mini rose bush has small flowers, it has many more than in a normal rose bush, all of them grouped by cocoons.

Looking very reggae
Not really reggae but a bit of Ska. Saw this band twice on consecutive nights in the early 90s, first night at The Tivoli in Buckley, a mate got on stage to sing along to a cover of Tin Soldiers, still don't think the PA has recovered, anyway they must have liked him as he took them to play pool at the 147 in Liverpool the next night before their show (insert venue here, can't remember!). Good to see their gigs are as chaotic 30 odd years later!

Masdevallia ignea es una especie de orquídea epifita originaria de Colombia. Se encuentra en la Cordillera Oriental de Colombia en alturas de 3350 a 3650 metros.
A diferencia de otras orquídeas, no cuenta con pseudobulbos. Una diferencia que le confiere un aspecto mucho más estilizado que otras orquídeas.

Spathoglottis plicata is an evergreen, terrestrial plant with pseudobulbs and pink to purple flowers 35–55 mm (1–2 in) long and wide. It is found from tropical and subtropical Asia to Australia and the western Pacific including Tonga and Samoa.
Spathoglottis plicata was previously listed as "vulnerable" under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 but was delisted in 2010.
A freshley painted muti-mark 424 leads three others east at Shanks. This is the first passing track west of Sherbrooke near Rock Forest, Quebec. I wonder sometimes if this were a last painted multi-mark locomotive???

The hibiscus plant commonly seen in parks or garden is likely to be Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Rose of China).
The male part (stamen) of the flower consists of stem-like filaments and each filament ends with the pollen-producing anther. The base of the filament is attached to a cylinder-like stem, known as a staminal column or stamen tube.
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis has a genetic characteristic known as polyploidy, in which there are more than two sets of chromosomes. Due to this genetic characteristic, the offspring may be quite different from the parent. Plant breeders have used this characteristic to produce a wide variety of hibiscus plants with different flower colours and shapes.

Pilea, the aluminium plant, is native to China and Vietnam. The specific epithet cadierei refers to the 20th-century botanist R.P. Cadière.
It is an evergreen perennial growing up to 30 cm (12 in) tall by 21 cm (8 in) broad, with dark green oval leaves, each leaf having four raised silvery patches (hence the name "aluminium plant").
It is cultivated as a houseplant in temperate regions due to its decorative leaves and easy vegetative propagation through cuttings. Important ingredients are alkaloids. All parts of the plant above ground are toxic. Animals can poison themselves with it.

Les topiaires du Escuela Jardin- Celestino Mutis, Parque Genovés, Avenida Doctor Gómez Ulla, Cadix (Cádiz), Costa de la Luz, Andalousie, Espagne.
Situé au nord de la vieille ville en bordure de mer, le parc public Genovés, ancien jardin botanique redessiné en 1892 par Géronimo Genovés i Puig, est une véritable oasis de verdure où l'on peut se promener dans le calme. Célèbre pour la diversité de ses plantes et de ses arbres, ce parc pittoresque comporte un lac avec une chute d'eau, une grande allée d'arbres, un théâtre en plein air et un café.
Une des parties appelée Escuela Jardin- Celestino Mutis, caractérisée par ses arbres taillés comme des topiaires, offre différents services éducatifs sur le jardinage à la population.
Cadix, une des plus anciennes villes d’Europe (4000 ans d’histoire), est une ville portuaire historique située sur une étroite bande de terre et de sable fin et donc entourée par les eaux de la Méditerranée, en Andalousie, au sud-ouest de l'Espagne. Occupée successivement par les Carthaginois, les Romains et les Maures, la ville prospéra après la Reconquête grâce au commerce avec le Nouveau Monde.

There are about 50 Osteospermum species, native to Africa, 35 species in southern Africa, and the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. They are half-hardy perennials or subshrubs.
Osteospermum are popular in cultivation, where they are frequently used in summer bedding schemes in parks and gardens. Numerous hybrids and cultivars have been grown with a wide range of tropical colors.

When I saw this photo,it reminded me so much of the fingers of the great Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan, who tended to have very expressive fingers when he worked. Here is a clip of him at the annual New Year's concert. It ends every year with this march by Strauss. Here you see the maestro's fingers in action.
