Photographers Moonrise was a fun little project I did with some local photographers in Wellington, New Zealand . I videoed the moonrise all in one take on the 27 September 2015 which was a day before the actual full moon, and it also happened to be the Supermoon weekend. I wanted to do something a little different to my normal moonrise videos and actually directed this one via 2 way radio 1.5km away from the photographers...that was certainly a challenge in itself! But after a few nervous moments leading up to the moonrise, everything fell into place, and all went perfectly to plan.

A big thanks must go to the photographers who took time out of their day to get involved with this shoot - make sure you check out the credits at the end. And thanks to PhotoPills, I just couldn't have planned the precise position and timing when the moon rose into my frame without your awesome app!

If anyone is interested in the planning of this shoot, I highly recommend my article I wrote called 'To the Moon and Back' theartofnight.com/2013/11/to-the-moon-and-back/ I use the same techniques and planning as I did with my Full Moon Silhouettes video back in 2013.

Well, my roll of Lomo 120 film finally came back from development. I did not realzie the grain of this particular film stock is so fine while the details in the photos are quite astonishing. This is one of my favorite spots in Tahoe. IMO, it is a must see for any visiting landscape photographer. Although It 's a little challenging at first to scramble down the hill from the highway, I think it 's worth it. With the right conditions, the view is heavenly. So if you come to Tahoe, stop over here in the late afternoon or early in the morning. I guarantee, you won't regret it.

So where the hell is it? You might ask.

Ah yes, it 's Bonsai Rock and I have pinned it on the map.

This is what the must looks like 3 days after the crush. On day one, I stirred in the yeast. Now we let that go to work. Eventually the yeast converts the natural sugar to alcohol. When the sugar reading gets down to zero, we press the must, eliminating the skins and seeds, and pour the resulting juice in large 5 gallon jugs where they'll sit until we bottle next spring. We may get 6 cases out of this year's crush.

Farming must be so great when all that hard work appears to be well and truly worth the long hours that the farmer works!

I must confess I struggle with woodland photography. My local woodland is very dense and it's hard to make an image out of the tangle of trees and branches. I did however like how the light was piercing through the trees and the nice golden glow made for a nice scene.

This must be one of those few rare Sundays when I decided not to post a churchy shot :P Nonetheless I reckon this stunning interior still offers that 'holy moly' experience... if not, even more!!! Have a great weekend!

Once again, my admiration for nature beauty was confirmed with my last visit to the bog. I tremendeously enjoy these moments when night turns into morning, fog covers the land, first beams of light touch the ground. My next landscape images will be coming already from the beautiful scenes of Finland. Enjoy the summer!

OK, so we went to the Georgia Aquarium, the world's largest. It was so packed with people you could barely walk two feet without bumping into a baby carriage, a rugrat, or some tourist. It was nearly absurd how many people were there and how long the lines were!

Anyway, there is this small alcove away from the main walkway, and this huge porthole-type window at the bottom of the whale shark tank which is HUGE. Glenn walked in first and looked up, and that instant I saw this shot and went nutz, couldn't believe the lighting, composition, everything! You can see the shadow of a whale shark in the top, and a sting ray to the right. The glow on him was amazing, the blue was perfect. And the most amazing this was there was NO one there for that split second. Everything came together in perfect timing and harmony. And the fact that he's so darn handsome doesn't hurt either!

I honestly think this is my favorite picture I've taken in a very long time. I really hope you all enjoy it as well!

1 and 1/2 hour drive from Bandung, Indonesia and I found this. Immediately I ask the driver to stop so I can get a few shot.

If you like leather stuff you should go to Garut, you can find hats, jackets, handbags, wallet and etc made from leather.

I made the girls a rain coat today and Angel wanted to try it out so off outdoors she went. Why flickr has chosen to upload it this way is beyond me but there you go!

My wife and I put up some new hummingbird feeders, and now have about 7 of them around the house and garden. It's funny how if you give them free food, they will come.

Lighting: I used a total of 5 bare Yongnuo strobes, set at 1/16 power, on light stands around the feeder to try to put some decent light on the birds. I did not have a background setup or lit for this session. The strobes were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

I have an album of hummingbird pictures if you enjoy seeing these tiny terrrors in action.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Mesa Verde National Park is a National Park and World Heritage Site located in Montezuma County, Colorado. It protects some of the best preserved Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the United States.

Created by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, the park occupies 52,485 acres (21,240 ha) near the Four Corners region of the American Southwest. With more than 4,300 sites, including 600 cliff dwellings, it is the largest archaeological preserve in the U.S. Mesa Verde (Spanish for "green table") is best known for structures such as Cliff Palace, thought to be the largest cliff dwelling in North America.

Starting c. 7500 BCE, Mesa Verde was seasonally inhabited by a group of nomadic Paleo-Indians known as the Foothills Mountain Complex. The variety of projectile points found in the region indicates they were influenced by surrounding areas, including the Great Basin, the San Juan Basin, and the Rio Grande Valley. Later, Archaic people established semi-permanent rockshelters in and around the mesa. By 1000 BCE, the Basketmaker culture emerged from the local Archaic population, and by 750 CE the Ancestral Puebloans had developed from the Basketmaker culture.

The Mesa Verdeans survived using a combination of hunting, gathering, and subsistence farming of crops such as corn, beans, and squash. They built the mesa's first pueblos sometime after 650, and by the end of the 12th century, they began to construct the massive cliff dwellings for which the park is best known. By 1285, following a period of social and environmental instability driven by a series of severe and prolonged droughts, they abandoned the area and moved south to locations in Arizona and New Mexico, including Rio Chama, Pajarito Plateau, and Santa Fe.

Mesa Verde National Park is in southwest Colorado. It's known for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, notably the huge Cliff Palace. The Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum has exhibits on the ancient Native American culture. Mesa Top Loop Road winds past archaeological sites and overlooks, including Sun Point Overlook with panoramic canyon views. Petroglyph Point Trail has several rock carvings.

Kanaloa Beach is a definite must visit surf sim, what I love most about Kanaloa is it is always changing from time to time and he gives it a whole new look and vibe to his sim. What’s great is there are always surfers riding the waves. Beautiful waves, Maoli tahiti and scenery will make this the perfect place to surf and take amazing photos. Waturu is the owner of Kanaloa and is one of the sweetest people I had the pleasure of meeting and calling my friend. When visiting you will find lots of cozy places to relax and soak the rays, and watch the surfers shredding out on the waves. I would list all the fun things like the pool area and such but remember what I said about how he is always changing the sim, check it out now and often, because he likes to revamp and keep it always up to date with what the creators are creating and releasing.

When you land at Kanaloa there is no doubt you will see the big sign that says Surf Beach and there is a reason for that you feel the surf all around you as you walk along the beach. There is a C-3 surfboard shop, all pre designed surfboards you can purchase for 450L along with a row of shopping huts to find all different things to buy, some surfing related and some just fun items to have. In the mix of it you will find some informational surf huts like the Epic Surf Center and SurfSL that help people find anything related to surfing. You can rez your own surfboard in the rez area and he provides the following rez boards: the UMi bodyboard, UMI Ki, Kiteboard, C-3, X-3, and C-Too for those that do not have a surfboard or want to try out a surfboard they haven't surfed before.

Other things Kanaloa has is a yard sale that runs throughout the year. Do you love trance or live music? He offers that as well Waturu is a trance Dj and invites other trance djs to play at his club “Club Soul” and he has live singers like Joaquin Gustav who performs every 3rd Saturday of the month. Definitely check out his schedules of events located on the sim.

Enjoy the Beach and surf at Kanaloa Beach, and as they say in Japanese どなたでも大歓迎です(Everyone is Welcome).

I must have spent an hour in the forest today looking for "the tree" to use in this photo, then with a stroke of good luck I happened to turn around at the right spot and see this perfect little seat poking out of this tree and I knew that I had found it.

The inspiration behind this comes from finding out that this portion of the forest was just added into a protected community forest that I'm on the Board of Directors for, we've been trying to get it added to our 2,000 hectare protected forest (where almost all my forest photos are taken) and this week, it was finally approved by the government, woot!

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a town in the district of Ansbach of Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia), the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world. It is part of the popular Romantic Road through southern Germany.

The name "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" means, in German, "Red fortress above the Tauber". This is so because the town is located on a plateau overlooking the Tauber River. As to the name "Rothenburg", some say it comes from the German words Rot (Red) and Burg (burgh, medieval fortified settlement), referring to the red colour of the roofs of the houses which overlook the river. The name may also refer to the process of retting ("rotten" in German) flax for linen production.

In 950 the weir system in today’s castle garden was constructed by the Count of Comburg-Rothenburg.

In 1070, the Counts of Comburg-Rothenburg, who also owned the village of Gebsattel, built Rothenburg castle on the mountain top high above the River Tauber.

The Counts of the Comburg-Rothenburg dynasty died out in 1116. The last Count, Count Heinrich, Emperor Heinrich V appointed instead his nephew Konrad von Hohenstaufen as successor to the Comburg-Rothenburg properties.

In 1142, Konrad von Hohenstaufen, who became Konrad III (1138–52), the self-styled King of the Romans, traded a part of the monastery of Neumünster in Würzburg above the village Detwang and built the Stauffer-Castle Rothenburg on this cheaper land. He held court there and appointed officials called 'reeves' to act as caretakers.

In 1170 the city of Rothenburg was founded at the time of the building of Staufer Castle. The centre was the market place and St. James' Church (in German: the St. Jakob). The development of the oldest fortification can be seen: the old cellar/old moat and the milk market. Walls and towers were built in the 13th century. Preserved are the “White Tower” and the Markus Tower with the Röder Arch.

From 1194 to 1254, the representatives of the Staufer dynasty governed the area around Rothenburg. Around this time the Order of St. John and other orders were founded near St. James' Church and a Dominican nunnery (1258)

From 1241 to 1242, The Staufer Imperial tax statistics recorded the names of the Jews in Rothenburg. Rabbi Meir Ben Baruch of Rothenburg (died 1293, buried 1307 in Worms) had a great reputation as a jurist in Europe. His descendants include members of the dynastic family von Rothberg, noteworthy in that they were accorded noble status in the nineteenth century, becoming the hereditary Counts of Rothenburg (Rothberg), later taking up residence in the city of Berlin where they were well known as jewelers until the 1930s. Most members of the family disappeared and are presumed to have been killed during the Second World War. Several of the von Rothbergs were laid to rest in a crypt located in the Weißensee Cemetery, while two members emigrated to the United States during the Second World War: Elsa von Rothenburg, 7th Dowager Countess (1893-1993) and Hans Joaquin Albert Andreas von Rothenburg, 8th Count of Rothberg (1913-1972). The family is survived by its last living descendant, Andrew Sandilands Graf von Rothberg, 9th Count of Rothberg (b. 1972), who resides in the United States.

In 1274 Rothenburg was accorded privileges by King Rudolf of Habsburg as a Free Imperial City. Three famous fairs were established in the city and in the following centuries the city expanded. The citizens of the city and the Knights of the Hinterland build the Franziskaner (Franciscan) Monastery and the Holy Ghost Hospital (1376/78 incorporated into the city walls). The German Order began the building of St. James' Church, which the citizens have used since 1336. The Heilig Blut (Holy Blood) pilgrimage attracted many pilgrims to Rothenburg, at the time one of the 20 largest cities of the Holy Roman Empire. The population was around 5,500 people within the city walls and another 14,000 in the 150 square miles (390 km2) of surrounding territory.

The Staufer Castle was destroyed by an earthquake in 1356, the St. Blaise chapel is the last remnant today.

Must be quite smokey judging by the rear!

They must love the heat. It was about 101 degrees yesterday afternoon! The colors in the background are from the children's floats in my son's swimming pool, the water, and a tree on the right side. The skimmers usually return to their previous perch. I watched that happen when I got too close. It flitted off, I waited about a minute, and it returned and perched again on this same twig.

From Texas A&M Agricultural Center:

Skimmer, Dragonfly

Common skimmer, Libellula luctosa Burmeister (Odonata: Common Name: Skimmer, dragonfly

Insect Order: Odonata

Scientific Name: Varies

Description: Skimmers are the most common and colorful of the dragonfly family. They have two pairs of large, usually patterned, gossamer wings. The hind pair of wings is slightly larger than the forewings. The wings are held flat and extend outward from the body when at rest. The abdomen is long and variously colored. Commons skimmers are the most common and most colorful of the dragonflies. Male and female adults are different in appearance (dimorphic). They also change color with age. They have large compound eyes and short antennae and are equipped with chewing mouth parts. They vary in length from 1 inch to over 3 inches. Their wing span can reach about 4 inches.

Heading back to the loading point at Jóźwin in EL2-06 after depositing another load of lignite at the Pątnów power station on the KWB Konin brown coal railway in central Poland.

The driver is seeing the railway line before him using the CCTV screen as the train is propelling in the return direction. But still, he can see most of the signals from his cab and he has a version of AWS, he must cancel out the signals on approach by pressing down on the deadmans peddle or hitting a button on the driving desk, this, like in the UK, is signalled by a warning bell at the driving desk. Otherwise the brake air reservoirs will dump and the brakes will go into emergency stop. 9th March 2023 .

This was not an easy photo to achieve, the main problem being the intense rattling and the motion of the loco felt inside of the cab. A higher than normal ISO has been used, 1250 I am generally out of my comfort zone past 400! A low aperture, f2.8 and relatively low shutter at 1/60th has also been used with a 24mm lens, and I had to press the camera hard up against the wall of the cab for stability. Of course, looking at the motion of the cab interior as the shutter was pressed it did not look like this would work but it did. Luckily, the cab construction is rigid.
