Mama passed away peacefully. A virtuous musically gifted and the non judgmental mom who taught us how to love. She was an endearing soul who loved Christmas. She loved her 6 children through it all!! Even when I ironed a quite large hole in her blue satin evening gown and polished her patent leather heels to a beautifully ruined finish. Still she loved me when I mixed all of her perfumes and creams together to create a new scent!! My how that lady forgave!! And yes she loved me still when I pitched my first bra out of the school bus window and that was the same day the teacher taped my mouth shut as one of his kind last resort and I laughed until the tape fell apart and that only made me laugh harder. All the poor teacher could think of was to call my mom. So ten seconds later, there she was, standing in the doorway smiling at all my friends and I as though she were invited to join the class for tea! Taking me aside a shut classroom door I stood there thinking my fun was over.Guess what she said? "Are you hungry dear?" "Have you been running or out playing in the sun? "Your little face is so pink, almost red. And I said back innocently" Mama you just worry too much. She hugged me and told me to write notes instead of talking so much. Then she smiled amorously and waved me the longest goodbye. That was the same day my 6th grade teacher requested a leave. Oh well, But mama loved me through it all!! I was the golden child. The only baby girl.
so when does enough become too much?
you go on vacation and snap dozens of pictures. see a band live, visit an iconic monument, statue, landscape, whatever. find a window that captivates you - and sometimes only you - for two dozen overly similar SPs. high speed breaking of the same old stuff. shove a handful of friends and family into a three-sided metal "box". stalk a Soft Rock Star and write copious odes to his questionably attractive sweaty mug.
right. um, where was i...? ;)
no, seriously. when does the same "series" get to be too much? too many of the same-ish photos in a row? are you given more leniency if you vary the subjects? i've done Bourbon St, myself in a motherfucking wintry parka, dammit! and now a black and white cemetery. but is that enough variety?
are there universal flickr laws for When Shit Gets Boring, Yo?

for Musically Challenged: "Till I Collapse" by Eminem
206/365
Inspired by Tracy Chapman's - Mountains of Things and even though this is Sept. 2, the second day in the month where if you feel so inclined you can use the music for your inspiration and play along with the whole month of September!! If you can't seem to come up with any songs for inspiration or if you just wanna list of some awesome songs to listen to or read (I find they speak more to me and take me places when I read the lyrics first personally...) then you better get with it, because the Musically Challenged awesome list is done soon :(((
Now I have to give you some lyrics...I will try and pick and choose, but the song has so much truth in it, it's hard to pick which are my favorite verses.
...The life I've always wanted
I guess I'll never have
I'll be working for somebody else
Until I'm in my grave
I'll be dreaming of a live of ease
And mountains
Oh mountains o' things
Oh they tell me
There's still time to save my soul
They tell me
Renounce all
Renounce all those material things you gained by
Exploiting other human beings
Consume more than you need
This is the dream
Make you pauper
Or make you queen
I won't die lonely
I'll have it all prearranged
A grave that's deep and wide enough
For me and all my mountains o' things
Moira House
After 145 years of educating girls, Moira House closed its doors for the last time on the 31st. August 2020 due to unsustainable financial losses.
The school was founded in 1875 by Charles Barlow Ingham. It began life as a family project borne out of financial necessity and, more importantly, Mr. Ingham's strong dissatisfaction with the education that his sister and wife had both received.
Charles Ingham had begun his own schooling at the age of two and was well educated, musically accomplished and a skilled carpenter, engineer, architect and innovator.
Charles discovered his aptitude for teaching while working in his father's paper mill, holding classes for the workers there.
His visit to America in 1874 to liquidate the family business gave him the opportunity to visit American schools, and the visit inspired him to begin a school in England for girls, thereby securing his family's income and giving him the chance to pioneer new methods in education.
-- The Opening of the School
The school opened as The Ladies High School, Moira House, Addiscombe near Croydon on the 24th. January 1875. There were initially four day pupils and three boarders from across the Atlantic.
The school began with no arbitrary rules, no marks or prizes, no forced preparation for external exams, no punishments, and no bells to announce the beginning of the day or change in lessons. Charles believed that such insistent reminders of duty were not necessary where intelligent and knowledge-loving children were involved.
He believed that every subject should have its own room and teacher. He believed that girls should be taught to play instruments, and encouraged his students to play the violin - quite unheard of in the 1870's.
Charles also felt that girls should be involved in team sports, and Moira House was one of the very first girls' schools in the UK to have a cricket team.
-- The Moira House Move to Eastbourne
The school remained in Addiscombe for eight years and then, on the recommendation of friends of the family, Moira House moved briefly to Bournemouth before settling in Staveley Road in Eastbourne.
It was decided that Eastbourne was where the school would remain, and Charles Ingham became architect of the school's home - known as School House, at 44, Carlisle Road. The building is shown in the photograph.
The foundation stone was laid by the oldest and youngest girls in the school, and their names, along with those of the Ingham family, were placed in the cavity of the foundation stone.
In 1908, Gertrude Ingham took over her father's role as Head of School and remained Headmistress until 1939. Even after leaving this role she was closely involved in the school until her death in 1956.
Members of Moira House were early advocates for women's rights. The following appeared in in a 1913 issue of the school magazine, The Shuttle:
'In the hurly-burly of the struggle it is sometimes
difficult to keep one's temper and remain always
sweet and serene and poised, but because the
ideal behind the Woman Movement is the desire
for increased facilities for service, harmony and
peace will surely follow the storm, and out of the
tumult shall emerge a new woman.
A woman no longer limited and ignorant, the
chattel of her husband or the household drudge,
but being balanced, intellectual, capable, free;
fit to take her place in all the departments of life,
whether public or private, as individual helpmeet
or as social servant.'
The reference to social servant and helpmeet indicates that there was still a way to go in terms of women's career aspirations - 'helpmeet' means a helpful mate or assistant, especially to one's husband.
-- The Moira House School League
The school League came into being from a number of events in the early 1900's. A play performed by the school in 1918 entitled 'The Quest for the Holy Grail' gave hope at a time when the world was at war.
And during the 1918-19 Spanish Flu epidemic, many teachers were taken ill, forcing the girls to take more of a leading role in the running of the school - a teacher later recalling them as 'knights in shining armour' who ministered to their sick classmates.
From these events came the formation of The League, a system in which girls and staff elected School Knights, Standard Bearers, Squires and Pages.
Founded on the principles of King Arthur's Round Table, the girls took the motto of the knights as their own:
"Live Pure; Speak True;
Right Wrong; Follow The
King."
At the time of the formation of The League it was important that the system was not rigid and was, like the school itself, open to change and natural progression when deemed necessary.
One such change came in the 1950's when the Pyramids (the school house system) were formed. This engendered a spirit of inter-pyramid competition. The newly-formed pyramids were subject to yearly, even termly, name changes and were known by a variety of names including Genghis Khan, Neptune and even the Beachy Head Bashers.
Eventually the girls decided that their Pyramids should have permanent names and these were Excalibur, Pegasus and Vulcan. Merlin was created much later in the 1970's.
-- Changes in Moira House Leadership
Mona Swann led the school while these later changes took place, and she admitted that at the time she wasn't all that keen on some of the names, but as the girls liked them they remained.
Mona was a Moira House pupil herself, and in her own words had a rebellious nature, and a reputation as the naughtiest girl in her previous school. Miss Ingham helped her through this, and in doing so gave her a love of learning and teaching.
Once qualified Mona returned to the school as a teacher. She became Headmistress from 1939-1960, overseeing the evacuation of the school to Windermere and its return to Eastbourne in 1945.
-- Moira House in World War II
With pressure from parents, particularly those from overseas, it was decided to evacuate the school away from the Channel during the war.
The initial evacuation was to the Thurlestone Hotel near Plymouth, but this was jumping out of the frying pan into the fire - Plymouth was bombed for the first time on the 6th. July 1940. The bombing, and the potential for enemy invasion, made Devon unsafe, and the Ferry Hotel in Windermere was eventually found.
The entire contents of the school was transferred to Windermere including beds, tables, shelves, chairs and books, as well as carpets, blankets, linen, crockery and silverware.
The school re-opened in Windermere in September 1940 with 96 girls under the headship of Miss Mona Swann whose aim was to recreate the essence of Moira House, both educationally and physically.
Peggy Hargreaves (née Wynter Bee), a former pupil, recalled:
"On Saturday the 14th. November 1940, when the
Battle of Britain was at its height, the day on which
our Spitfires shot down over a hundred of the enemy's
planes, my Grandmother, Mother, my two sisters and
myself took a train from London to Windermere. There
we arrived at 9 pm, having crossed Lake Windermere
by the Ferry, on the doorstep of the School which
welcomed us with open arms despite not having
received a letter or telegram warning them of our
impending arrival."
This reception was typical of Moira House, which managed whilst in Windermere to maintain its reputation of passion and community spirit as well as achieving excellent examination results.
By the time the school returned to Eastbourne in 1945, an increase to 108 girls necessitated the rapid purchase of The Lodge, which was renamed Dunn House.
-- Later Changes in Leadership
In 1960 Mona Swann retired, and in the following 15 years, three Headmistresses in turn took on the role: Mrs. Ladas, Mrs. Oliver and Mrs. Foxon.
In 1975, a Headmaster, Adrian Underwood, was appointed. He brought with him new ideas and plans for the advancement of the school in the hope of securing the school's future. Looking at the school's history, its aims and ideals, Mr. Underwood, with the help of Howard Barlow and Shona Beattie - then School Knight - devised the School Crest and the motto: Nemo a Me Alienus - 'Other People Matter'.
After 24 years of service Mr. Underwood retired as Head and passed the role to Ann Harris, a much loved and respected Headmistress who sadly passed away before she could enjoy her retirement.
Mrs. Lesley Watson then led the school for 7 years until Mr. James Sheridan became Principal.
-- Changes in Location
The school relocated five times over its lifetime, and yet the name that first graced the gate posts in Addiscombe, i.e. 'Moira House', remained. 145 years ago, a Greek scholar remarked to Mr. Ingham upon the appropriateness of the name - Moirai - the three fates said to govern the destiny of all.
Charles Ingham took that name, but gave to his students the ability to take control over their fate, to better themselves, to be confident individuals and lifelong learners, and to think and care for other people.
-- Re-Purposing of the Moira House Site
At the moment (2023) development plans are underway to turn the school buildings into luxury flats, with additional residential accommodation being built in the grounds. Sign of the times.
What will happen to the school's large modern gymnasium and 25 metre heated indoor swimming pool remains to be seen.

Blue October~Into the Ocean
I'm just a normal boy
That sank when I fell overboard
My ship would leave the country
But I'd rather swim ashore
Without a life vest I'd be stuck again
Wish I was much more masculine
Maybe then I could learn to swim
Like 'fourteen miles away'
Now floating up and down
I spin, colliding into sound
Like whales beneath me diving down
I'm sinking to the bottom of my
Everything that freaks me out
The lighthouse beam has just run out
I'm cold as cold as cold can be...
be...
I want to swim away but don't know how
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves up, take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion, yeah
Let the rain of what I feel right now come down
Let the rain come down
Where is the coastguard?
I keep looking each direction
For a spotlight, give me something
I need something for protection
Maybe flotsam, junk will do just fine
the jetsam sunk, I'm left behind
I'm treading for my life, believe me
(How can I keep up this breathing?)
Not knowing how to think
I scream aloud, begin to sink
My legs and arms are broken down
With envy for the solid ground
I'm reaching for the life within me
How can one man stop his ending
I thought of just your face
Relaxed, and floated into space
I want to swim away but don't know how
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves up, take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion, yeah
Let the rain of what I feel right now come down
Let the rain come down
Now waking to the sun
I calculate what I had done
Like jumping from the bow, yeah
Just to prove I knew how, yeah
It's midnight's late reminder of
The loss of her, the one I love
My will to quickly end it all
Set front row in my need to fall
Into the ocean, end it all
Into the ocean, end it all
Into the ocean, end it all
Into the ocean...end it all
[Zayra]
Into the ocean (goodbye) end it all (goodbye)
Into the ocean (goodbye) end it all (goodbye)
Into the ocean (goodbye) end it all (goodbye)
I want to swim away but don't know how
Sometimes it feels just like I'm falling in the ocean
Let the waves take me down
Let the hurricane set in motion, yeah
Let the rain of what I feel right now come down
Let the rain come down

Late entry for The Teleidoscope's "religion" theme. I had a little trouble coming up with something for this one...i know there are a million ways to interpret religion or spirituality or whatever, but it isn't something i usually think too much about. Then i was listening to some Bowie, and that got me thinking about how rebelling against religion is probably a big part of some people's younger years (not mine...there wasn't any religion to rebel against). Long story short, i decided to dress up like a school girl. The End.

This Year's Love by David Gray
Oh gosh, Kerry is so tall I have to tippy toe to get a kiss. :)
I want to take this opportunity to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for all the support, phone calls, flickrmails, facebook messages and comments for the photo the other day. You guys, I hope you all understand how much you guys really helped me out of my funk.
So! I'm posting a happy photo today!
Kerry was even such a great sport after I asked if he would take a photo with me. Originally it was to be outside on the stairs, but there were people and it was cold. For some reason I get nervous taking photos in front of people - what happened to me! lol
anyways I am feeling much better and loads happier.
love you guys! Stay awesome <3

Musically Challenged: This Years Love - David Gray
Well you never know, they are always here.
Always lurking somewhere around you. Slowly reaching out towards you.
Waiting for the right moment to catch you.
I'm actually behind my 365, missed out on a few days, argh.
Too many things to worry, too little time!!! I dont have a good feeling about this.
Musically Challenged - Shout At The Devil
I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride
A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming
A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you
Now I'm in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world
Don't you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath - it gets better
I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back to where I used to be
A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I'll chase them anywhere
There's time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you
A whole new world
That's where we'll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
For you and me
[Aladdin - A Whole New World]
I loooooooove Aladdin.
I don't like the photo though... I've played around a lot with it, using different backgrounds and all, but it's still not how I wanted it to be.
Oh well.

It's not often that a bloke can get a chick to do what he wants.... but success this time. I think bribery helps - depending on the chick the bribe could be corn,.... or chocolate,... or gemstones,.....
Anyway.... on to the Top 10 list, since that is what I specified for TRP day today. (And putting a mug in means it is good for FGR too.)
So here is a list of Top 10 drinks....
1) Tea.... Probably what I drink more than anything else. A few stipulations about tea.
- Must be drunk out of a bone china cup/mug (like my chicken mug in pic)
- Must be made with looose leaf tea - NOT teabags, which are only for the crass
- Must be made with boiling (not just hot) water.
- Milk should be added afterwards, not before
2) Guinness... Smooth, cold & delightful winter or summer
- Must be drunk at least every 3 days
- tastes better in a pub
- Must be drunk from a straight sided glass with no handle.
- Drinking from a bottle or can is the height of uncouth & uncool
3) Espresso....Triple shot of course
- Must be made from freshly ground beans (within 10 mins of being ground else it goes stale)
- Beans must have been roasted no more than 3 weeks ago, and ideally at least 4 days ago
- Single variety rather than a blend by preference, although some blends are OK
- Decaf??? - I'm sorry but you have to be killed
4) Fresh cold milk...
- Full fat of course, semi skimmed (or 2%?) is only for the paranoid
- Should not be sipped i.e. must be drunk in large gulps
5) Cappuccino (or Flat White)
- OK if you want a longer drink of coffee than an espresso shot
- Must be served with proper microfoamed milk to get perfect latte art
- Decaf??? - What is the point? And besides you were warned!
6) Malt Whisky
- A peaty island variety such as Laphroig is best, but any single malt will do
- An irish malt whisky is OK, but scotch is better
- Never with ice, but 50:50 with still cold water is fine
- Drunk out of a cut crystal lead glass is best
7) Vintage Port
- Perfect after a meal with guests.
- Cigar if you absolutely must
8) Water
- Sometimes it can be good for something other than boiling for tea, or adding to malt whisky
- Bubbles - forget it
9) Cola Float - Decadance from childhood!
- Rich vanilla ice cream only
- Diet coke? You are being stupid and paranoid again..... Get more exercise if you are worried about our weight or give up coke completely for f***** sake
10) Long Island Iced Tea - If you must have a cocktail
- The only way to imbibe tequila without grimacing
- The fourth one will make you fall over
- After five, who cares
Musically Challenged - Shake your Tail Feathers - The Blues Brothers
Bench Monday - Even chickens play HBM

Rock music is a genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in 1950s America and developed into a range of different styles in the 1960s and later, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States.[1][2][3] It has its roots in 1940s' and 1950s' rock and roll, itself heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical sources.
Musically, rock has centered around the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with bass guitar and drums. Typically, rock is song-based music usually with a 4/4 time signature utilizing a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse and common musical characteristics are difficult to define. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music.
By the late 1960s, referred to as the "golden age"[1] or "classic rock"[2] period, a number of distinct rock music sub-genres had emerged, including hybrids like blues rock, folk rock, country rock, and jazz-rock fusion, many of which contributed to the development of psychedelic rock influenced by the counter-cultural psychedelic scene. New genres that emerged from this scene included progressive rock, which extended the artistic elements; glam rock, which highlighted showmanship and visual style; and the diverse and enduring major sub-genre of heavy metal, which emphasized volume, power and speed. In the second half of the 1970s, punk rock both intensified and reacted against some of these trends to produce a raw, energetic form of music characterized by overt political and social critiques. Punk was an influence into the 1980s on the subsequent development of other sub-genres, including New Wave, post-punk and eventually the alternative rock movement. From the 1990s alternative rock began to dominate rock music and break through into the mainstream in the form of grunge, Britpop, and indie rock. Further fusion sub-genres have since emerged, including pop punk, rap rock, and rap metal, as well as conscious attempts to revisit rock's history, including the garage rock/post-punk and synthpop revivals at the beginning of the new millennium.
Rock music has also embodied and served as the vehicle for cultural and social movements, leading to major sub-cultures including mods and rockers in the UK and the "hippie" counterculture that spread out from San Francisco in the US in the 1960s. Similarly, 1970s punk culture spawned the visually distinctive goth and emo subcultures. Inheriting the folk tradition of the protest song, rock music has been associated with political activism as well as changes in social attitudes to race, sex and drug use, and is often seen as an expression of youth revolt against adult consumerism and conformity.

This week is my week to select the song list for the Musically Challenged group. (Yay! It's very exciting.) For the next few days, I will be covering songs from my list.
This one is The Dreaming Tree, one of my favorite songs by Dave Matthews Band. If you haven't heard it, you've gotta check it out - it's truly incredible.
- The Verve, Love is Noise
**Explored**
Ok, so I admittedly strayed pretty far from this week's inspiration shot in our emulation challenge for My Face is My Canvas. But really, there's just no improving upon Kezzaroo's thorny shot. So I had to take it a different way. I like the way this turned out, though. Probably because I find it fun to dress up like a rockstar. :)
And I'm also finally getting a song done for Allard's picks this week in Musically Challenged. :) Double bonus!
Prepare for an onslaught of outtakes. And trust me, I exercised restraint. There were a ton that I really loved from this shoot. Which is funny since I hated all of them when viewing them on my camera when I was taking them. Funny how that happens.
Huge winter storm coming our way. Just in time for me to have to drive an hour up north for a hearing at 8:30 tomorrow morning. I'm going to need to leave myself probably two hours or more to get there. I despise winter drivers.

Musically Challenged: The Verve - Love is Noise
My Face is My Canvas: Emulation Week #12
I have been experimenting with different lighting techniques lately. This is the result of my creating a snoot for my flash. Not knowing what is right or wrong does give me a certain level of freedom to try whatever silly idea I might have ;-) I have posted a few shots of my homemade snoot in the comments. It's pretty ghetto, but hey, it worked!
Stigmata - Ministry
(38 of 53)
Musically Challenged - Black Water (Doobie Brothers)
FGR - Stuff to drink
TRP - Motvation Poster
Feb ABC - C is for Coffee
I think I'm growing feathers
But I'm not quite sure of it
'Cause I started getting dizzy
About a Hundred feet up
I made friends with the clouds
I made friends with the birds
For this week's Musically Challenged
Another song/artist I do not know. I really loved the lyrics to this one....the idea of the song...what I thought it meant...
Title refers to me as much as the picture~I am unfortunately not musically minded and have no idea how to play - I'm hoping my kids get their musical genes from their mum who is the polar opposite of me and can play pretty much any instrument. I'm at the stage of my 112 pictures where I'm having to choose a topic and really think about it! Fortunately we were given a guitar just last week so this one didn't require too much thought!!
#19 - Music (112 Pictures)

TRP - musically inspired
Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Feathers on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me makes me lighter
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Feathers on my breath
Nine night of matter
Black flowers blossom
Feathers on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Feathers on my…
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Feathers on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Feathers on my breath
You’re stumbling in the dark
You’re stumbling in the dark
Explored thanks guys <3
like a thistle on a tree
like the sparkle on the sea
you were made for glory
...
but like a thorn on my flesh
your beauty holds me
i can't find relief
and it's no wonder why you're here
to torture me
Made for Glory - Landon Pigg
honestly I have played more musically challenged shots than the other groups because i just LOVE ashley's picks! I can totally relate them and do them to my photos!!!!
nothing crazy today. did a photo shoot with Jamee & Juan! tomorrow im heading to Lauderdale!! YAY! cant wait!
i totally LOVE this necklace. I got it last night from Carrie, I am one of the lucky 50 ladies who get to wear this magically piece of sisterhood love and it's definitely an honor. I'm going to write in the journal and do my doodles and print some photos and then send it out to Just K. on Monday.
p.s. that is a sheet. :)

Deana Carter~ Did I shave my legs for this
Flowers and wine is what I thought I would find
When I came home from working tonight
Well now here I stand, over this frying pan
And you want a cold one again
I bought these new heels, did my nails
Had my hair done just right
I thought this new dress was a sure bet
For romance tonight
Well it's perfectly clear, between the TV and beer
I won't get so much as a kiss
As I head for the door I turn around to be sure
Did I shave my legs for this?
Now when we first met you promised you'd get
A house on a hill with a pool
Well this trailer stays wet and were swimmin' in debt
And you want me to go back to school
I bought these new heels, did my nails
Had my hair done just right
I thought this new dress was a sure bet
For romance tonight
Well it's perfectly clear, between the TV and beer
I won't get so much as a kiss
As I head for the door I turn around to be sure
Did I shave my legs for this?
Darlin did I shave my legs for this?
The txalaparta is a unique music ensemble of stones, woods and pipes and two players who beat out a rhythm that is musically a tour de force of co ordination.
It is an old form of music much in vogue in the Basque region of Spain but has suffered terminal neglect and as a result not much of it is known to the people. The genre of music originated as a mode of communication in the hilly regions of the Basque foothills from one village to another to announce funerals, making of cider etc etc.
There has been a steady resurgence of the music form over the last 15-20 years.
Maika and Sara Gomez are twin sisters from the Basque region who are one of the leading proponents of the txalaparta. They go by the name of "Ttukunak".
They make a fine sight while they play the exotic music and the sound of course to use the cliched term is -"awesome"
You can see a slideshow of photographs on the band's website ttukunak.ning.com/
You can hear some samples of the music here

Did anyone else have one of these for school? I am not especially musically minded, but EVERYONE had to have a recorder in my junior school! It made up part of the morning assembly along with a bit of hymn singing and lesson reading! My two strapping sons would probably have so much fun taking the mickey if they knew that I played one of these at school as a boy! :-)
Sshhh! ...don't tell them! :-)
I rather think that the statutory music and sport participation has tended to be left behind somewhat by modern day schools nowadays, but stumbling across this in the loft the other day did bring a wry smile to my face!
Of course I couldn't play the thing very well - hence the title! :-)))
Oscar Schmidt autoharp sans color. Rainy days have a way of making you see everyday things in the house as a potential photo-op. Soon my wife grew tired of me rooting through her antiques while she was trying to watch a movie and banished me to the office/second bedroom with this autoharp. She said "knock yourself out".

Billy Joel~She's Always A Woman
She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child,
But she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe
And she'll take what you give her, as long as it's free
Yeah, she steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me
Oh--she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh--and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind
And she'll promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she's always a woman to me
Oh--she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh--and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind
She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
And she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me
