SS Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship that was advanced for her time. She was the largest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854. She was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806–1859), for the Great Western Steamship Company's transatlantic service between Bristol and New York City.
In 1852, Great Britain made her first voyage to Melbourne, Australia, carrying 630 emigrants. In 1882 Great Britain was converted into a sailing ship to transport bulk coal. She was sold to the Falkland Islands Company and used, afloat, as a storage hulk (coal bunker). In 1970 the Great Britain was returned to Bristol to be restored as a museum ship. Today it is a visitor attraction in the original construction dock.
This work by Marius van Dokkum was made as one of 8,390 entries for the summer exhibition about Rembrandt and reached the final.
The painting is inspired by Rembrandt's Night Watch in terms of composition and lighting. However, Rembrandt's militiamen have been replaced by contemporary travellers. It also shows how everyone shuts themselves off from others with their cell phones.
The Museum collection has grown to over 5,600 historical artifacts of farming equipment and pioneer life in British Columbia, on display in two buildings.

An oldie photographed back in November 2019. One of the images where I always think "This is actually quite nice" when I flip through the images in Lightroom and then forget about it when I go further back (or forth) and see another one of these "actually quite nice" images. So I decided to finally process and upload it so as not to forget about it for another year. Photographed with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7,5mm F2.
Taken at the inner courtyard (the "Schlüterhof", named after Andreas Schlüter, one of the architects of the Zeughaus) of the historical part of the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum, "DHM"): the former Zeughaus (Arsenal), one of the oldest buildings in Berlin's historical centre. The Zeughaus was built between 1695 and 1706. The DHM was founded in 1987 to celebrate Berlin's 750th anniversary; back then it was located at the Reichtstagsgebäude (in former West Berlin) which since the German reunification in 1990 once again serves its designated purpose as the seat of the German parliament. As a result, the DHM moved to the Zeughaus in 1990 as well, and the first exhibition was shown in 1991.
The modern glass roof you can see here was installed during the construction work for Ieoh Ming Pei's modern adjacent building between 1998 and 2003 (please check my album if you are interested in more images from the DHM).
When we visited, there was an exhibition about Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt in the new building of the DHM. The group of children you can see here looked pretty happy and elated that they could finally leave the exhibition. While indeed interesting, I think that particular exhibition wasn't quite drafted for younger children, so their joy of being "free" again was understandable ;)
Processing-wise I decided to add an image border because I think it looks nice for this type of historical building. I also enhanced the image in Topaz Gigapixel because after removing the wide-angle distortions and adjusting the POV the image (of only 16 MP) had become rather small.
Happy Hump Day, everyone, and enjoy the rest of your week :)
