Exercise improves cardiac health and controls several of the risk factors associated with Heart Conditions. However, Exercises also increase stress on the cardiovascular system and will precipitate or worsen cardiac symptoms. The essence is to strike the correct balance.
For those with healthy hearts and no symptoms, exercise must always be encouraged. For those with manifest cardiac unwellness and weak hearts, a supervised program and an understanding of exercise-related stress are emphasized.
Heart Exercises are often broadly speaking divided into 3 types – Aerobic exercises, Resistance Exercises, and Stretching Exercises.
Aerobics
Aerobics is additionally referred to as cardio exercise since the one major impact it has is on heart rate. The intensity is outlined as mild, moderate, and severe depending on the heart rate achieved throughout the exercise. As a rough calculation, the heart rate of an individual is 220 minus the age in years. The mild, moderate, and severe kind is once the heart rate reaches below 60 %, 60-80 %, and over 80 % severally throughout an exercise.
The heart's oxygen demand will increase with the rise in heart rate and is the principle utilized in the stress test once cardiac changes are assessed throughout such stress. A supervised exercise program is based on constant principles wherever you may be suggested on what level of aerobic exercise is safe. One could begin exercises at intervals some weeks of a cardiac event under a supervised program.
How aerobics will profit your Heart
Despite age, weight, or physical skills, aerobic exercise will have a positive impact on your heart and overall health. It doesn't only manages weight, and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol but also improves blood circulation. All of those factors reduce the chance of heart illness. In addition, will increase stamina, improves mood, and facilitate us to be active despite our age. A few samples of aerobic workouts include running or jogging, climbing stairs (at work or home), swimming, cycling, and taking part in sports like soccer, badminton, tennis, basketball, etc.
Resistance Exercises
Weight coaching, also referred to as Resistance Exercises or Muscle-strengthening Exercises, is one example wherever a bunch of muscles is moved against resistance. Resistance exercises have an additional impact on blood pressure than heart rate. It will increase the strength, size, power additionally, and endurance of the muscle. However, once resistance exercises involve heavy weights and breath holding, there may be an incredible rise in BP, and people with uncontrolled BP should avoid it. While at the same time, resistance exercise of lesser intensity lowers the BP, some believe even over aerobic exercises, in the long-term. greater repetitions of weights with lesser loads are suggested.
How Resistance Exercises will profit
Resistance Exercises strengthen your muscles. This will help you perform routine activities seamlessly and also defend your body from injuries. Additionally, strong muscles also enhance your metabolic rate, which means additional calories are going to be burnt even while at rest. A few samples of resistance exercises include lifting free weights (dumbbells, barbells, or hand weights), body-resistance workouts (pull-ups, squats, chin-ups, and pushups), and utilizing resistance bands or weight machines.
Stretching Exercises
Stretching Exercises, also known as flexibility workouts, doesn't contribute to your heart’s health, however, it will benefit your musculoskeletal health, that in turn, will help with joint pain, muscle cramping together with other musculoskeletal problems. Stretching Exercises must always be done to tone the system and build exercise safer and easier. It's crucial in allowing you to keep up your aerobic and resistance training workouts. The sudden stretch of muscles will cause pain and injury which might be avoided by some minutes of warm-up and cooling off, usually with stretch exercises. One should get Counselling on stretching of various muscles and muscle clusters from trained personnel for greater results.
In addition, yoga also has several health benefits, like lesser resting heart rate, higher respiratory function, improved blood circulation, and raised lung capacity. There are several studies that also show that yoga will facilitate lower blood pressure, which is extremely vital to decrease your risk for stroke, heart attack, and other health ailments. Yoga and meditation also can scale back stress, one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
5 Signs of Heart issues You Mustn’t Neglect while physical exercise
Seek medical attention if you experience the following when you're exercising:
Chest Discomfort
Intense pain, fullness or squeeze within the center of the chest, or uncomfortable pressure will indicate several heart disorders. If you experience these, stop exercising and ask for an expert recommendation.
Light-headedness or giddiness
Experiencing fatigue is common while exercising, particularly if you lead an inactive lifestyle mostly. however, light-headedness and giddiness are causes for concern. Don’t ignore these.
Abnormal heart rhythm
Skipping a heartbeat or palpitations isn't a standard occurrence in most healthy people. Make sure you are careful about these symptoms.
Shortness of Breath
While shortness of breath to some extent is normal, if it persists for long or is accompanied by discomfort, then it’s a warning call. Consult your doctor in such a scenario.
Unusual Sweating
Sweating is once more normal, but cold sweats or sweating not to mention nausea or discomfort isn’t.
Conclusion
Regular exercise, a stable heart-healthy diet, and regular comprehensive healthy heart checks can facilitate keeping a tab and strengthening your heart. You should also understand the type, and how much exercise is good for you. Consult an expert Apollo cardiologist at Ask Apollo and visit Apollo ProHealth’s Heart day Page for more info..

Over the past several months, construction to make way for a new second MRI machine and radiology space has been underway. Last week, BID-Needham officially opened the rooms and activated the new MRI machine, a Siemens Aera 1.5T system.
This state-of-the-art, wide-bore scanner allows for faster scan times and excellent imaging capability. The system has a larger opening and a shorter system design for a more pleasant and comfortable patient experience. For claustrophobic patients, this MRI system provides them with more room so they feel less “closed-in.” In some cases, patients can keep their head outside of the system to look at a lighted ceiling mural, which studies have shown helps to relax patients.
Adding this second MRI system will give our team greater flexibility and availability for patient scheduling. The Department of Radiology at BID–Needham is part of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Department of Radiology and staffed by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians. Subspecialty interpretations are provided using the same protocols as BIDMC in breast imaging, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, and body imaging.

Neurological problem The emergency vet treatment of animals by acupuncture has been around for 3,000 years but has recently gained more popularity. Is it painful and what are the side effects? All the details inside.
Animal Care by Acupuncture Life is one of the five streams of animal medicine in Chinese medicine. Emergency clinics have been using this method for years, but while acupuncture has been used mainly for animals and horses, acupuncture is now used mainly to treat pets.
According to Chinese medicine, the human body and animals have main energy channels called meridians, through which the energy of qi passes. The energy of qi is life energy and in a healthy state it flows freely through these energy channels, but when there is shortage or excess energy, diseases and other problems can arise. Acupuncture comes to solve the problem of energy flow to restore the situation to normal.
How does an emergency vet perform acupuncture?
Acupuncture is performed by using sterile, thin disposable needles. Acupuncture is done according to the Chinese medicine theory, and the only difference between human and animal care lies in the various energy centers and in the various parts of the bodywhere they gently pierce the needles
How long does treatment take?
The length of treatment varies depending on the severity of the condition of the animal. While a simple problem can be eliminated in individual sessions compared to a more acute problem that could take several dozen treatments.
What causes acupuncture treatment?
For animals acupuncture can help in one or more of the following situations:
- Musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis or vertebrae problems
Neural damage
- Breathing problems such as asthma in cats
- Skin problems such as dermatitis or allergy
- Digestive problems such as diarrhea
- fertility problems
Seasonal diseases
In addition to these problems, acupuncture can help and treat sports injuries following running, jumping and swimming
Does it hurt animals?
If the needles are in their designated location, they do not cause pain. However, acupuncture treatment includes symptoms such as tingling, cramping or numbness that occur in humans, but animals may be alarmed. Usually during the treatment animals are in a very relaxed state and some even doze off.
Are there side effects?
Acupuncture side effects are rare but can occur. Sometimes the animal's medical condition worsens to 48 hours after treatment and other times the animals stay sleepy or older than normal for 24 hours after treatment. These effects are positive and are an indication that acupuncture is effective.

Whiplash is one of the most debated and controversial musculoskeletal conditions. This is, in part, due to the often compensable nature of the injury and the fact that a precise pathoanatomical diagnosis is not usually achievable.
Whiplash: Evidence base for clinical practice presents the evidence underpinning the complexity of whiplash associated disorders (WADs), from the specifics of current physiological and psychological manifestations of the condition to broader issues such as compensation and litigation.
This new text will be essential reading for physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, occupational therapy and health psychology practitioners and postgraduate students, as well as practitioners in rehabilitation therapies and primary care.

Clinical massage therapy involves the manipulation of soft body tissues treating the precise areas that are causing your problem. The earliest known writings about massage therapy can be traced back to around 3000 BC. Scientific research has proven that massage therapy can ease pain, improve circulation, and reduce symptoms of stress and swelling. While clinical massage therapy is not a cure-all, there are many conditions that arise in the musculoskeletal system that can be helped by this approach, including:

The major findings are indicated by the arrows.
1. The ACL graft looks intact, with some increased internal signal which may be normal in a graft, or may represent a sprain. It has a slight 'kink' just above its tibial exit, which may represent impingement or laxity. The tibial tunnel appears correctly positioned posterior and parallel to Blumensaat's line.
2. The medial meniscus is markedly deficient compatible with previous resection. A re-tear should not be diagnosed on the basis of its size or signal, but is likely if a linear defect is present (especially if of fluid signal).
3. At least 2 intra-articular bodies are visible, shown to good advantage by the moderate effusion. One is in the medial recess, the other in the posterior recess just above the PCL. They may be adherent to adjacent synovium and are not necessarily 'loose'.
4. The weight bearing surface of the medial femoral condyle shows a large area of full-thickness cartilage loss, and an adjacent area of surface fissuring and cavitation.

Injury or chronic disease can have detrimental results on healthy living as it compromises mobility and makes performing regular tasks hard. For physical therapy Russellville communities affected by musculoskeletal aches and pains can find relief with practices that work with the body and not against it. Strengthening techniques promote improved function while specialized rehabilitation can restore regular movement and prevent the worsening of symptoms.
Physical therapy is a rehabilitation approach to health and wellness assisting in the management of muscle, bone, joint and nerve health. When injured or disease changes the structure of one or more components it has a negative impact on the ability to move or engage. Most people experience severe pain and symptoms that make it increasingly difficult to move towards a stable and flexible state of being.....

Dr. Phil Campbell is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Complex Engineered Systems and Biomedical and Health Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Animal Science from Auburn University as well as a Ph.D. in Physiology from Pennsylvania State University. Currently, Dr. Campbell is actively involved in research efforts focusing on the bioavailability of growth factors.
During a Future Lab interview, Dr. Cambell spoke about his long-term vision. "Most people have heard of newts and salamanders or starfish. What's interesting about those types of animals is they can lose significant amounts of their body and then completely regenerate them. If a newt loses its hand, it can grow that hand back and it's completely functional. But if you lose your hand it will not grow back. But, you do have the genetic potential. That's a vision for the future in the research. Everything moves toward that, but I don't hold that to be achievable anytime in the next few hundred years. What I hold as my own personal vision is that we can come up with constructs of hormones that will promote stem cells to develop into various interconnected tissues, like the Achilles tendon."
Dr. Campbell has been featured in several publications for his research efforts in his field. His current projects incorporate the study of growth factor association and dissociation with the various interstitial components, proteolytic processing, etc. under a variety of physiological conditions. By utilizing this basic scientific information, Dr. Campbell and his research personnel are working towards improving biomimetic tissue engineered materials appropriate for musculoskeletal tissue repair and regeneration.
Dr. Phil Campbell comments on his stem cell research on the online radio show Future Lab:

Jordan Mathews measures the energy needed to counteract the weight of a heavy object on a wooden arm as her dad looks on during the Use the Force! Workshop.
At the Use the Force! Workshop camp participants learn that even the simplest everyday actions require your body to generate surprisingly large forces. They explore how biomedical engineers capture data about how our bodies move and what forces they generate – and see how this information helps us to understand and treat different diseases and disabilities of the musculoskeletal system.
Xplore Engineering summer camp is designed for Michigan Engineering alumni and the children in their life entering the 4th through 7th grade. Through a series of experiential workshops, participants get hands-on experience in a variety of engineering disciplines. Participants can choose to participate in 6 out of 18 workshops ranging from nanotechnology to rocketry.
