Wadi Musa (Arabic: وادي موسى, literally "Valley of Musa) is a town located in the Ma'an Governorate in southern Jordan. It is the administrative center of the Petra Department and the nearest town to the archaeological site of Petra. It hosts many hotels and restaurants for tourists.
Wadi Musa means "Valley of Moses" in Arabic. It is said that the Moses passed through the valley and struck water from the rock for his followers at the site of Ain Musa ("Moses's water spring" or "Moses's Well").The Nabateans built channels that carried water from this spring to the city of Petra. Wadi Musa was also nicknamed the "Guardian of Petra". The Tomb of Aaron, supposed burial site of the Biblical Aaron, the brother of Moses, is on nearby Mount Hor.
The area was defended by the Crusader castle Vaux Moise, and was part of the Lordship of Oultrejordain. During the Arab Revolt, Turkish forces under the command of Mehmed Djemal Pasha attacked Wadi Musa on 21 Oct. 1917. The Ottoman forces were defeated by forces under the command of Mawlud Mukhlis, Faisal's aide-de-camp.

Al Norte de Marruecos se alza el Yebel Musa o monte Musa, cuya figura hace que tenga otro nombre, más popular y conocido que ha llegado hasta nuestros días. Se trata de la Montaña de la Mujer Muerta, porque desde determinado punto, el monte se asemeja a una mujer tumbada, de manera que se puede ver la cara de la mujer, con su frente, los ojos, la nariz y la barbilla, junto con el cuello y el resto de cuerpo, que parece tumbado. Más que muerta, parece dormida, pero los nombres populares han de ser incisivos.
En esta ocasión las nubes ocultan parcialmente su cima.
Cuenta la leyenda que Hércules, el semidios griego, se enfureció tras una infidelidad de su amada, así que tomó en una mano el peñón de Gibraltar y en la otra el monte Hacho y con fuerza, consiguió separar ambos continentes y creando el estrecho. A su amada la convirtió en piedra y es lo que hoy forma ese característico monte.
