My EDC (Every Day Carry) items - mouse over the image for labels. I also have a SAK, another light, and spare batteries in a bag that I have with me most of the time.
I didn't include my phones and my wallet, but I have them pretty much all the time too.
I used to have a lighter, but it died on me and I'm still looking for a suitable replacement. I'm also on the lookout for a small pen and a small compass. Eventually, I'll probably add a knife (not a multi-tool or a SAK) to this collection, and maybe replace the LD10 with a stronger, slightly larger light.
UPDATE 2010.03.18: added a knife, lighter, and a few more knots to the kit
EDC (everyday carry) pocket dump for this date, May 12, 2017. ArmyTek Wizard Pro LED flashlight, Leatherman Wave multitool, Kershaw Shuffle pocket knife, all with paracord lanyards. stormdrane.blogspot.com/2017/05/a-may-day-edc.html

After several years, untold number of tin cans opened, hospital machines fixed in the spot, trips to the beach, the mountain, and everything in between, this little tool has proved so helpful. Once, a fishhook piercing a kid's ear was removed with the wire cutter at ER. Not without leaving a nick in the jaws, damn hook was hard (it was an Eagle Claw, the father told me)...
I got this when I was a freshman in college, and have pretty much carried it ever since. If almost any of my friends were asked to describe the contents of my pockets, this would likely be the first thing listed. This is the Victorinox Fieldmaster, and see notes for a description of each tool.
Most things went well. This was a long ride and there was a lot of riding and shepherding. I didn't really take time to do many other things, like look for pictures to take.
Things I didn't use:
Spare Cord
Handwarmers
Water Treatment Tablets
Coil Lock
Tripod
Folding Bowl
Cutting Sheet
TP Kit
Tequila
Things I underutilized:
Folding Stool
Multitool
Flashlight
I really would have been better off with a no stove set up. Cook some hotdogs on the fire maybe but cooking dinner was not fun when I was that tired. My coffee in the morning could have easily been a can of coffee too. I felt to rushed to leave camp I tossed the remainder of my coffee so I could pack the stove and go.
Nice to have good sharp blades and a pair of scissors for #everydaycarry #edcknives from #victorinox #myvictorinoxedc hashtags on Instagram. #SAKAlox #SAKAloxFarmer

The Alox models, as well as being slightly longer, have thicker tools, and a stronger construction (wider rivets), than their 91mm cousins, additionally, the Alox handles are much tougher than Cellidor, so this family is designed for harder use than the Cellidor models. In fact, in the early days the Pioneer was known as the Sturdy Boy and even up until roughly 2017 the Pioneer series was labelled as the Sturdy Models on the Victorinox website.
From Google Bard…
Victorinox makes Alox knives using a process called **deep drawing**. Deep drawing is a metal forming process that uses a punch and die to create a three-dimensional shape from a flat sheet of metal.
The first step in making an Alox knife is to cut a sheet of aluminum to the desired size. The sheet is then placed in a deep drawing die, which has the shape of the knife's handle. The punch is then pressed into the sheet, forcing it to conform to the shape of the die.
Once the handle is formed, the blade is inserted into the handle. The blade is held in place by a rivet, which is pressed into the handle. The rivet is then peened, which is a process of hammering it to expand it and lock it in place.
The final step is to anodize the knife. Anodizing is a process that creates a protective layer on the surface of the metal. This layer helps to protect the knife from corrosion and wear.
Here are the steps in more detail:
1. **Cutting the sheet metal:** The first step is to cut a sheet of aluminum to the desired size. The sheet is typically 0.8mm thick.
2. **Deep drawing the handle:** The next step is to deep draw the handle. This is done by placing the sheet metal in a deep drawing die and then pressing it into the shape of the die with a punch.
3. **Inserting the blade:** Once the handle is formed, the blade is inserted into the handle. The blade is held in place by a rivet, which is pressed into the handle.
4. **Peening the rivet:** The rivet is then peened, which is a process of hammering it to expand it and lock it in place.
5. **Anodizing the knife:** The final step is to anodize the knife. Anodizing is a process that creates a protective layer on the surface of the metal. This layer helps to protect the knife from corrosion and wear.
The Alox knife is a popular choice for EDC knives because it is durable, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant. The deep drawing process used to make Alox knives ensures that they are strong and reliable. The anodizing process also helps to protect the knives from the elements.

Even more than my Leatherman Juice A2. Even has a small screwdriver wound into the corkscrew. Very difficult to open all the tools at once. Need to use the screwdriver from the #Alox7 to avoid breaking a thumbnail…
Not many medium to large knives have the file but this one does.
The nearest model with file with these features, plus a hook, is the Mountaineer, B-1.3743 which I added to my collection on my Victorinox Account.

From our point of view , sitting on our fishing kayak , Loch Lomond is truly a remarkable place to go . The loch is 26 miles long with many areas to explore .Today we tried the top end . Finding the water from the roadside is a total mission , small trek through woodland area , muddy holes along we pull our loaded kayaks . I met up with Dan and Dec , good friend of mine , and it’s always good to catch up with them .Small group kayak fishers can always share their experience and we learn from each other .Winter is over now , with still patchy snow on the hilltop , today the easterly wind is cutting across , little cold still and rather blustery .We paddle on into wilderness .The lure box is full , today we are targeting pike .Our little spot is scenic to say the least and the company is good .We paddle and drift , casting and retrieving our lures in different depth hoping for a mighty take .The water is still cold with no activity . A few hours later Dan decide to stop for a bit of lunch .Propulsing his kayak onto the shore trying to make a safe landing .Every thing go pear shape now with that blustery wind and we have a mayday .It’s a roll over in two feet of water , just enough to chill your bones .Nothing to worry about , a cold dip . However it is always best to keep all equipment in sealed containers , phones and camera especially .Disaster yes but we still have a laugh .Dan’s three piece spinning rod became a travel rod in no time , at least 6 broken piece now with no chance to fix ! Poor Dan headed back soon after calling it a day .Dec and I carried on fishing for a while still hoping for a single take , just one single fish would make our day .With no luck whatsoever we both headed back in . And then we came across this human left over , the dirty truth .The dirty truth is the so call anglers leaving a big mess in our scenic Scotland .We found a bag , a huge industrial bag full of leftover including rotten dead bait , empty can of beers , leftover wood to burn , fishing lines and hooks , half empty bottle of buckfast , rusty knife set and dying multitools .Those folks have been lucky enough to enjoy this beautiful part of the world and unfortunately they made a mess of it .Enjoy the countryside , keep your wrappers in your pocket , leave no fishing lines (that endanger wildlife ) Leave nothing but footprint .Yes simply , in those wild scenic areas , please leave nothing but footprint .You can do it .Do it , do it …..Small Video here youtu.be/nhDFdzewL3I
On special from Amazon Au arrived after a couple of days 27th Sep 2024 have put a needle in the pinhole. Another handy small 2-layer #SAKedc to have around or in a pocket. 100647 on the toothpick…

My #SAKTinker in the office has the Philips head driver (much more useful) instead of the now-useless corkscrew. Still has a pin...
Think I will use the Spartan in the office..
This is the May 2010 edition of my pocket EDC. You might also want to see the images from the previous three months.
The changes I've made from April's kit are (1) moving the cheap peanut-type lighter to the bag, and (2) adding some pepper spray. Everything else is pretty much the same.
Orange ITW Nexus TAC Link with a 3 pass gaucho knot, tied with 2mm navy blue cord around the gate, and a hank of navy blue paracord on the carabiner.
The knot is tied and tightend up on the thinner section of the carabiner's gate, so it's gonna stay put where it is. But, you could make the knot so that it fits around the hinge or latch section of the carabiner, with the knot just tight enough to friction fit in place, you could then use the as a slider lock. A strategic application of krazy glue secures the trimmed/tucked ends of the knot.

Every time I hold a piece of plastic household waste in my hands, I first check the plastics code on the base and then try to think up ways to use it, or repurpose it into something else. There are so many ways to repurpose plastic 2-litre bottles and this floor lamp is just one example out of many projects that I have done and just one more way to reduce household waste.
1. Remove the top section of the bottle with a sharp craft knife and then use a pair of scissors to trim at 5mm below the decorative pattern on the bottle. If your bottle doesn’t have a decorative pattern - you’re using the wrong brand of bottle!
2. Use a Dremel Multitool and cutting disk to remove the top neck of the bottle. Be careful when doing this as you need to hold the bottle in your hand as you cut. You could also use a hacksaw to cut off the top of the bottle neck if you don't havea Dremel Multitool.
3. To make one section you need two top sections. I have found it easier to warm up the bottom of a section in hot - not boiling - water to soften the plastic and make it easier to join two sections together. I’m not going to lie and say that fitting the two bottle sections together is easy, but it does get easier the more you do. The trick is getting one section to fit inside the other and the blerry thing keeps popping out. Persevere and you will come right.
4. When you have collected enough sections to make a standing or table lamp, slip them onto a piece of PVC pipe. You can use nail polish remover (acetone) to remove the barcode. Take them outdoors to spray with frosted glass. You don’t necessarily have to spray with frosted glass, you can also leave them clear. But I find the frosted glass hides any defects and it also matches the base I have found.
5. So that all the sections fit together nicely I used a cardboard tube cut to length and then wrapped this with aluminium self-adhesive tape.
There’s no exact measurement for this, as it depends on how you cut off the tops, but try one size and then adjust as required until you get a nice fit.
Once you peel off the backing it feels exactly like tin foil but with a self-adhesive
backing.
6. To wire up the lamp you need to thread the electrical cord through the pipe. Strip the end of each wire no more than 5mm from the end and then twist the wires together so that there are no loose filaments.
7. Thread the base of the lamp holder onto the top of the pipe and secure the wires
to the lampholder connection. Pull on the wires to ensure they are secure and will not come loose and then screw the lampholder together.
8. Use 5-minute epoxy glue to attach the lampholder to the top of the pipe and leave
this to dry for longer than 5 minutes! I don’t know why but sometimes it takes
longer to dry than it should - perhaps temperature affects it.
Just for security and peace of mind, I also wrapped a thin strip of white duct tape around the top as well.
9. To make the lamp stand I bought a piece of 20mm PVC electrical pipe from Builders Warehouse and use a glass light cover that was a leftover from a ceiling fan that was broken and removed. To steady the base I cut circular rounds of 16mm PG Bison SupaWood that were glued together and drilled with a 20mm spade bit, so that the pipe would fit into this.
