A frocking family affair…Megan Christoph (left) poses with spouse Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Sarah Christoph before being ceremoniously advanced to her next highest pay grade of mass communication petty officer third class when assigned to Naval Hospital Bremerton on Limited Duty status. Her work ethic at NHB garnered her recognition as 2019 Navy Writer of the Year followed by being chosen as 2019 DoD Thomas Jefferson Military Writer of the Year. Christoph has since been medically retired from active duty and was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, thanks to timely Navy Medicine identification of the disease. MS is an autoimmune disease that impacts a person’s central nervous system such as the brain, optic nerves, spinal cord. It can’t be cured. But it can be treated, which is exactly what she is doing, with the help of Navy Medicine and civilian healthcare experts (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, NHB/NMRTC Bremerton public affairs officer).

A pile of papers full of my mad scientist ramblings that I hope will fall in the hands of someone crazy enough to give me lots of money to have a lab full of minions. This grant focuses on trying to prove that infections surrounding birth could increase a child's susceptibility to develop Multiple Sclerosis. Hopefully someone find it worthy of funding one day...
The symptomatic spectral range of multiple sclerosis can be quite diverse, involving different manifestations in line with the affected body regions. Multiple sclerosis is definitely an inflammatory neurological disease, causing dysfunctions mainly at the degree of the central nervous system....

ARTIST NOTE: Well, I have Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and I recently found out that I have some active lesions that are compressing my corpus coliseum and that is causing me to have some really special balance and visual issues. This painting "Matter" represents 2 fold for me: Brain Matter and Perspective. As a Buddhist, I believe that perspective is not just a matter of what you see, but how you see it.
