Monsoon is receding from Pune (rather reluctantly). But fortunately it is leaving behind some spectacular sunset hours.

they were not lonely and did not yodel, but their cheerfulness did merit this framing.

When there is recess in monsoon rain; sky is decorated with spectacular cloud formation.

Low hanging cloud with soft light of golder hour - an opportunity no landscape photographer would miss.

Just before Monsoon Cloud engulf Pune :)

Mula river one of two main rivers that flows through Pune city. As you have guessed by now, most of the time its dirty and full with hyacinth. But monsoon is different - it is clean and green.

Buildings at far left is Aundh - The happening western suburb.

Two rivers cross the western Indian city of Pune (Poona), viz the Mula and the Mutha. Their confluence is also inside city limits. Although they were dirty and polluted, much work has been put in to clean them up and spruce them up aesthetically, at least inside the city limits. Here is one of them, the Mutha, in spate during the rains of July 2007. Although not the safest thing to do, two wheelers and tuk tuks wade through the waters on the flooded banks of the Mutha. (Pune/ Poona, July 2007)

Somewhere on the bank of Mula river within city limit

Its eerie out there!!

(Large view is better)

More than 50% of Hinjewadi Infotech Park (Pune) crowd take this bridge everyday for office commute. No prize in guess where is it :)

Another view of the almost full Mutha Rier running through the western Indian city of Pune (Poona). The river is not at its fullest though, due to which people are still able to use the low causeway to get across. Once this is submerged, the locals will need to use the higher bridge seen alongside.(Pune/ Poona, July 2007)

Over Mula River, Pune

as usual larger is better

Sunset color, yesterday near my house.

At Aundh, Pune. Yesterday it was brief relief from rain, and I got an opportunity to shoot the river

a river is a river and needs respect, polluted or not, but that didn't prevent some folks with a sense of humour from planning the installation, back then, of a caution sign advising all visitors to approach the river armed with nose clamps or gas masks.

The Mutha River in spate has partially submerged a local shrine set in the middle of the water. Note drainage outlet too in the foreground, meaning that risk of drowning aside, it's positively gross to try and reach the shrine now. During the dry days, the shrine is well in the water and the drainage outlet would be on the banks of the river.(Pune/ Poona, July 2007)

Yesterday, near my house

This is the bridge between Kalyani Nagar and Koregaon Park, two best residential areas in Pune. The former looks like suburbs of Moscow :-/ and the later I believe used to be a nice area before they started cutting the banyan trees...

Mula River, as seen from NH 4 bypass

Still don't know the name of this river. Wikipedia says that Pune "is situated... at the confluence of the Mula and Mutha river"... Guess it's one of them.

You can see the modern landscape of Pune behind...

The poor horse was sick... It was slowly dragging itself along the river bank and would stop every 100 m... Hope it's still alive.

That day I had to get up early as we were supposed to go to Matheran... Short winter days... Think it was as late as 6 am.
