“Fighter’s Heaven”, Muhammad Ali’s Training Camp in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, was the training facility built by Muhammad Ali, where he trained for some of his biggest fights. It is now open to the public, free of charge, to tour.

Ali was there with his wife & kids.
He was super nice and his wife did a great Donald Duck immitation!

The Citadel is a fortified enclosure begun by Salah al-Din in 1176 AD on an outcrop of the Muqattam Hills as part of a large defensive system to protect both Cairo to the north and Fustat to the southwest. It was the center of Egyptian government and residence of its rulers until 1874, when Khedive Isma'il moved to 'Abdin Palace.

Merkato 55, at 55 Gansevoort Street, was opened in 2008 by Ethipian-born, Swedish-raised chef Marcus Samuelsson, introduing reinterpreted African cuisine and a "kidogo bar" and adorned with Dutch artist Menno Schmitz’s design of integrated batik, burlap, and African proverbs and poems.

Golden detail from the older larger wooden Minbar of the Mosque of Muhammad Ali at the Citadel in Cairo. This minbar is the largest in Egypt, incorporating significant gold in its decorations.
In Ouijah there are many artistically painted signs and walls displaying famous black people from the past.
All countries in West Africa have artistically and colorfully hand painted signs. Benin has special hairdresser signs with painted disks attached to a pole.

Original Old Kentucky Cabin - this is one bottle, shot from the front and back. Behind it is a small painting by Artist Teddy Schapiro. I know there are some serious Ali collectors out there so I an enlisting the help of the Internet to find this ultra rare collectible a proper home.
The Iftari Kiosk is a pavilion in the Citadel in the vast garden between the Qasr Al-Gawhara, or Palais de Bijou, the royal palace commissioned by Mehmet Ali in 1814 and his royal alabaster Mosque. The pavilion offered Egypt's sovereign a breathtaking view over Cairo as he broke his fast at sunset on Ramadan days.
This photo shows the colossal 14th century Mosque-Madrassa complex of Sultan Hassan (left) and the royal Rif`a Mosque (right). The Rifa`i Mosque, in Mehmet Ali's time was a small Rifa`i Sufi zawiya frequented by Sufi mystics and pilgrims.
It wasn't until 1868 that the current mosque was commissioned by Khoshyar Hanem, Khedive Ismail's (r. 1863-1879) mother to provide the heirs of Mehmet Ali with a royal funerary mausoleum whose exterior would fit into the Mamluk surroundings whereas its interior would become a masterpiece of Arabo-Islamic art and a marvel to Ottoman and European ambassadors and dignitaries in ceremonial occasions.

Perhaps the best way to view the center is to look only at the outside. I visited the center on 21 February 2006.

The old Muhammad Ali Training Camp situated in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, not far from Allentown. Ali used it to train here for important fights in the 1970s - now, it is kind of run down, consisting of several log cabins and big boulders with the names of great boxers (which Ali had set up back in the day to honor other pugilism greats like Sonny Liston, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Joe Frazier).
Ali went to fight Oscar Bonavena at Madison Square Garden on December 7, 1970. After a tough 14 rounds, Ali stopped Bonavena in the 15th, paving the way for a title fight against Joe Frazier.For more visit

A big change came in 1977: shortly after losing a fight to American boxer Jimmy Young, Foreman gave up boxing and turned to religion, becoming an ordained minister in 1978. He later founded the George Foreman Youth and Community Center and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Patron, begun 1848: Muhammad 'Ali (Muhammad Ali Pasha al-Mas'ud ibn Agha) 1769-1849, Wāli of Egypt, Sudan, Sham, Hejaz, Morea, Thasos, Crete (r.1805-1848).
Patron, completed 1857: Sa‘id (Mohamed Sa'id Pasha) 1822-1863, 4th son of Muhammad 'Ali, Wāli of Egypt & Sudan (r.1854-1863).
Architect: Yusuf Bushnak, an otherwise unknown Greek architect from Istanbul, who is thought to have modelled it on the Mosque of Sultan Ahmed (Blue Mosque) in Istanbul.
