Sarnia Sertoma Clubs Annual Sportsman Dinner 1974 Guildwood Inn - Muhammad Ali doodle on tablecloth. Larry Csonka was scheduled but couldn't make it (too bad), but Ali stepped in last minute which was "the greatest"!
George Chavalo was also a speaker that night.
Saw that Ali was doodling away, didn't know onto what, until after the dinner. Raced up to the table, saw the doodle, saw it was signed, dated and began removing dishes etc and rolled up the tablecloth.
It was a night to remember...RIP
Our friendly driver to the Dead Sea and back to Tel Aviv posed for my camera with the blue background of the bus.
Muhammad was fasting on the last day of Ramadan.
I asked how he was doing and he answered:
"Great ! I feel so light, cleansing myself from the inside, too."
"When did you last eat today?"
"I had a date and some water at 03.30 this dawn. I really feel well, don't worry, I'm OK. No, I am not thirsty at all. Tonight we'll eat a festive meal at about 20.00."
"What kind of food will you eat?"
"A few days ago I bought vine leaves grown in Hebron, they are the best. I couldn't pass on the opportunity to buy a big bunch, four kilos !"
"Wow, that's a lot. How do you keep them fresh?"
"My wife deep-froze them. They are as good as fresh once you take them out of the freezer. She fills them for dinner tonight. Yes, of course, we eat Qatayef, too, but it's for dessert."
I was impressed with Muhammad attitude about fasting and wished him Ramadan Kareem.

Muhammad Ali ruled Egypt during the first half of the 19th century and built this mosque in the memory of his eldest son.
Being Ottoman, he didn't appreciate Egypt's treasures so some of the limestone that when into this mosque came from the pyramids. He also gave one of the Luxor obelisks to France (now in the Place de la Concorde).

Each photo is memorable in its own way. As an international student coming from a commonwealth country and enjoying the western culture was a mesmerising feeling for me. Moreover, the opportunity to showcase our traditions and culture and getting to know more about others was also a great way to teach and learn. Everyday here at University of Kent has been exciting and full of exposure for me be it studying, attending conferences, or enjoying events with friends.

Diwani Arabic Script which reads "Muhammad-ur Rasool-ullah" which translates in English to "Muhammad (SA.W) is the Messanger of Allah (S.W.A)". This special type of Arabic script is a cursive style developed during the reign of the early Ottoman Turks during the 16th century.
Please feel free to comment. I enjoy constructive criticism also!
