This is another photo of the spectacular Mt Cook area. I had a bit of a hard time taking this shot. I was perched on a narrow suspension bridge which was busy with foot traffic and swaying in the wind. I managed to get a moment where no people were on the bridge, so I ran out with my tripod, flicked the legs out and took the shot. Here is the result.

It may look like a bell tower, and sound like a bell tower, but Mueller Tower on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus does not have any bells.
Ralph Mueller, class of 1898, donated the money for the tower in 1949 "In grateful appreciation of the free education given him by the State of Nebraska". Mueller was the founder of the Mueller Electric Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The alligator clips on the cables used to jump start your car battery were invented at the company!
Anyway, as an electrical guy Mueller didn't want bells, carillon or any of that nonsense. Instead there is an array of speakers at the top of the tower. They are connected to a control room in the basement of nearby Andrews Hall. The tower mostly plays pre-recorded music these days but still has the ability to be hooked up to a keyboard.

Ok, just so you don't think Utah has a pollution problem like Beijing, I used my last shot from my first pack of Artistic TZ for this, and it's the film that makes the valley down below look nasty. Sometimes it gets gunky down there, but Saturday was crystal clear.
