There were SO MANY photographers. I felt like a movie star when they all gathered around me like that.
We spent an hour watching a herd of elephants wallowing in, what had become, a very muddy waterhole. Suddenly one sprayed mud over another, whether out of anger or kindness we would't know.
Today (30.9.18) members of the We're Here! group are getting into Mud Pictures. There's precious little mud around at the moment in these parts, so I've dug out and polished up a photo I took a while ago.
Mads Østberg is a Norwegian rally driver, one of the best in the world.
Mud Hero 2015.
Over 30 members of 5th Canadian Division partook in the 2015 Mud Hero challenge at Ski Martock near Windsor, Nova Scotia, on 4 July 2015. The physically and mentally demanding competition acted as a fun training tool for Atlantic Canada’s soldiers to enhance their personal fitness and camaraderie with their local community.
The 2015 Mud Hero challenge saw participants traverse 16 obstacles over 6 km including a cargo net climb, running over teeter totters, and crawling through tunnels and mud pits. This was the third year of the Mud Hero challenge took place in Nova Scotia which saw over 4,000 participants.

Plus de 30 membres de la 5e Division du Canada ont pris part au défi Mud Hero 2015 au centre de ski Martock près de Windsor, en NouvelleÉcosse, le 4 juillet 2015. Cette compétition exigeante sur le plan physique et mental, qui représente une activité d’entraînement amusante pour les militaires de la région de l’Atlantique, permet d’accroître la condition physique personnelle et l’esprit de camaraderie au sein de la communauté locale.
Dans le cadre du défi Mud Hero 2015, les participants devaient franchir 16 obstacles sur un parcours de 6 km qui comprend la montée de cargaison, la course sur des bascules et le passage dans des tunnels et des trous de boue en rampant. Cette troisième édition du défi Mud Hero, qui a eu lieu en NouvelleÉcosse, a accueilli plus de 4 000 participants.

Covering yourself in this glorious mud and then taking a dip in the sulphur springs will supposedly make you feel and look 10 years younger.
We visited this unique landscape with mud volcanoes in Buzau Mts., Romania. Here are some more details about this place:
"The Berca Mud Volcanoes are a geological and botanical reservation located in the Berca commune in the Buzău County in Romania. Its most spectacular feature is the mud volcanoes, small volcano-shaped structures typically a few meters high caused by the eruption of mud and natural gases.
As the gases erupt from 3000 meters-deep towards the surface, through the underground layers of clay and water, they push up underground salty water and mud, so that they overflow through the mouths of the volcanoes, while the gas emerges as bubbles. The mud dries off at the surface, creating a relatively solid conical structure, resembling a real volcano. The mud expelled by them is cold, as it comes from inside the Earth's continental crust layers, and not from the mantle.
The reservation is unique in Romania. The mud volcanoes create a strange lunar landscape, due to the absence of vegetation around the cones. Vegetation is scarce because the soil is very salty, an environmental condition in which few plants can survive." (Wikipedia)
40th Mighty Mud Mania" began in 1976 as in 1976. Mighty Mud Mania activity has been held since then as the kickoff to a great Scottsdale summer!
