Very muddy catfish caught by this Great Blue Heron at Bombay Hook NWR

This heron has the nictitating membrane (eyelid) closed to protect the eye from the mud, which is interesting but not good for photography as it makes the eye look very hazy.

The light for this photograph is very soft as there was dense fog, but there is a hint of warmth as the sun was starting break through the fog.

Lee County, Illinois.

Trinity & Karma after a good romp in the muddy field. I'm guessing it was bath time when they got home.

Snow is gone and left almost muddy brownish greens, covered with fluffy storm clouds. Not my favorite conditions..

Playing around with Silver Efex Pro 2 for the first time. I like the fine tune control the software has for pin point adjustment.

With muddy feet, the Northern Waterthrush skulls along the banks of a dark, murky barrens creek hunting for prey. A passing observer would likely miss it, altogether. With burst of movement accented by its bobbing tail, this warbler moves easily amongst the tangled underbrush. Only the careful or very lucky onlooker will note its presence. #NorthernWaterthrush

I pass this road daily and always wanted to stop and get a shot. The other shot is HDR.

A rare frost this year, so grabbed 5 mins to take a couple of shots before work.

On my walk yesterday afternoon and all three dogs made straight for the centre of the puddle then drank from it !!! they then ran off (in fear of my telling off ) before I could take a shot of them rascals !!!

With the high water levels on Lake Michigan, massive erosion is taking place on the fragile dunes.

I just love the way this Oystercatcher is literally up to its eyes in mud as it feeds at low tide on the River deben!

The Oystercatcher is very noisy wading bird with a loud 'peep-ing' call. On the coast, it specialises in eating shellfish, particularly cockles and mussels, which it either prises or hammers open with its strong, flattened bill. Originally a coastal species, the Oystercatcher has moved further inland over the last 50 years to breed on waterways and lakes. Most UK birds still spend their winters by the sea, however, and are joined by birds from Norway and Iceland.

The Oystercatcher has a black head, back and wings, and a white underside. It has a long, red bill and pinky-red legs.

Oystercatchers are widspread around the coast, with large wintering numbers at major estuaries. They also nest inland on flooded gravel pits and large rivers.

Britain supports an internationally important number of wintering oystercatchers with up to 45 per cent of Europe’s population choosing to spend the winter here. Overall, the breeding population in England has increased to around 110,000 pairs, but there has been a significant decline in Scotland, the reasons for which are unclear. Due to these local declines, oystercatchers are Amber-listed in the UK and classed as Vulnerable in Europe as a whole.

ToyWorld figure, Muddy. Based on Transformers Dinobot Sludge. I was taking this pic a 1 in the morning. Lol. Oh, toy life. Really, I just wanted to take another sunset pic for my birthday. Here's a review of the figure:

Sorry if this little piece of Hertfordshire is becoming boring, but I couldn't resist capturing it with that layer of orange cloud in the distance when I cycled past this morning!

'Muddy Puddles' On Black

Taken with my 10-22mm lens practically touching the leaf. A polarising filter virtually removed all reflections and glare from the (soaking) wet leaves, really giving a welcome boost to the colours! Hand held @ 1/15s, not bad!

This waterfall is in Swallow Falls State Park in Pennsylvania. I was passing within a half hour drive of this waterfall so I decided to detour to see it. In the foreground you can see the path to the bottom of the falls.

Reflections on Nature in Sydney's Centennial Park...

The westbound Rio Grande Zephyr rolls into Yarmony. Colorado. While I will always remember the location for the photographs exposed there, the thing that I will remember most is the mud that was the result of the mid-March spring thaw. Moving into position for the shot, my three friends and I found ourselves ankle deep in the thick clay. With no way to clean our boots, we got into the car to move to our next location, and the carpets of the car became filthy messes.

For the rest of the week, we anticipated how much extra the rental car company would charge us for cleaning the carpets that we cleaned as best we could.. I had arrived in Denver a day ahead of our planned meeting date, so I could sample some Colorado skiing at Winter Park. The rental company didn’t have the full-sized four door car that I had reserved, so I took a smaller car with the understanding that I could trade it for the car that I reserved the next night. The nest night, I got the car that I wanted, and it happened to have ski racks. Fast forward to our return, and another disappointed customer was at the counter. This guy was irate, barking at the staff. He had a family on a ski vacation and the company had no cars with ski racks available, as he had reserved, and they had been waiting for some time. We drove up to the return line, and the guy immediately spotted our car. We walked into the office, and he barked at us, “Are you turning that in?” When we said yes, he instructed the agent, “Give me that one!” The agent replied that he would need to have it cleaned before he could release the car. “I don’t care! It looks fine to me! Just rent it to me!”

With that, we were absolved of our muddy transgression. I can just imagine what the poor guy thought when he saw the interior in the light of the next day
