Then, we entered the mud pool. The mud came up to my mid-thigh, so this was just getting more covered in mud, and not really taking any off yet. In the back corner there the mud was coming into the pool, and it was super hot.
The Thumb Paint Pots form a small group of bubbling mudpools on the edge of the West Thumb Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park.
Smiling despite the eggy stench of sulphur! Spent the afternoon walking amongst the mudpools and Geysers.
This pool was huge with lots of steam and bubbles. Quite a bit of water in it.
The pool is apparently 90C+, as are many of the pools in this area and at Tikitere. It's very hard to get a feel for this - the bubbling mud was very similar to the cool pools in Romania.
The mudpool was shortly after the kiwi house. There was definitely a kiwi in the house. It was bigger than I'd expected.
