Post for the Macro Mondays -group.
One of the most important games of my youth, Magic: The Gathering.
HMM!
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
The first building on the museum site was constructed in 1865 as an athenaeum with the purpose of providing a space for cultural and learning opportunities for the Hawke’s Bay community. The Hawke’s Bay Philosophical and Mechanic's Institute was based in this building during the early 19th century and contributed ideas on art and science to the province. The 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake considerably damaged the institutes’ collections but the building was one of few to remain standing. The earthquake underscored Hawke's Bay's need for a purpose-built art gallery and museum for the safekeeping of the region’s treasures. In 1936 a new building was constructed with funds raised from the Hawke’s Bay community. It was designed by architect James Augustus Louis Hay.
In 2006 the Napier City Council took over management of Hawke's Bay Museum. Douglas Lloyd Jenkins was appointed director and the name of the institution changed to Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery. The Hawke's Bay Museums Trust was re-formed to become a Trust that holds the museum's collections for the benefit of the community. In July 2010 the Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery closed to undertake a three-year redevelopment project. The completed MTG Hawke’s Bay facility opened on 21 September 2013 and incorporates the two older buildings on the site with a new wing designed by architect Richard Daniels. The building recently won two architectural awards in the annual New Zealand Architecture awards, in the categories Public Architecture and Heritage for the Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay region.
Finally, after about 5 months of on-and-off building, my contribution to the Mecha Telephone Game is complete! I took way longer than I thought I would, but I've had a lot going on so I've had much less building time in general. Anyway, onto the build!
So this is the spiritual successor to Marco's Wanderer. I tried to keep a few key design elements while adding in a hearty serving of my own ideas. The Striker retains the beefy legs from the Wanderer (mainly the thighs) and the two black-and-white weapons on the sides. I combined the idea of the little red "eye" on the front of the Wanderer with the machine gun underneath it to create a little head with a small anti-personnel gun on it. I tried to fit a minifig inside mine, but the torso is much smaller than the Wanderer's so it was pretty much impossible. I ended up just making it an AI unit.
Definitely the biggest new thing I added is that giant cannon on top of the Striker. I wanted to put something on top of the main body, but the past designs haven't had anything. I thought it looked too plain so I had the idea of just converting the entire mech into what is essentially a mobile artillery platform. The gun can move up and down a bit, and the little supports on the front of it slide up and down the barrel accordingly.
By far the biggest challenge with this build was the legs. I started out with them, but my initial attempts were incredibly flimsy and always buckled under their own weight. I ended up having to double up on ball joints at the knees, and use click hinges for the second joint. Even with this much beefier design, however, it can buckle under its own weight in certain poses.
Anyway, in a few days I'll be sending this off to Omar, so that he can build his interpretation of it. Two more builds and the first round of the MTG will finally be complete!

So I made a MOC based on a MOC based on a drawing based on a MOC because swaq.

And yes this thing will probably continue.
Anyways, I'm quite satisfied with how this turned out, despite the fact that i was lacking some pieces for what I had in mind.

This is my contribution to the first Mecha Telephone Game. One of the two has already reached ExclusivelyPlastic and found a nice new home.
Rhondda Buses purchased a pair of impressive Optare Prisma-bodied Mercedes 0405s - 550/1 (N550/1 MTG) - in late 1995. More were expected to follow, though this was not to be because Stagecoach purchased the business in December 1997.
Under Stagecoach ownership they became 23950/1 and remained at Porth depot until early 2009. They then transferred to Blackwood as replacements for some of the former Glyn Williams BMC Falcons, where they were usually allocated to Service X18 (Ebbw Vale-Newbridge-Risca-Newport). They came out of service in Summer 2010, and despite a concerted effort to find a buyer interested in preserving at least one of them, this was to no avail. Sadly, both passed to Abba Scrap of Dowlais in March 2011.
In this shot taken the following month, a battle scarred 23950 sits with Marshall Capital-bodied Dart 33281 and a former Islwyn Optare Vecta-bodied MAN awaiting her fates.
After being taught how to play Magic the Gathering" last night (I finally beat him BTW :) ), tonight I experienced my fist game of Dungeons and Dragons where I played as Axeless Bob - every other character had an axe apart from me. Tom is in geek heaven this weekend with MTG of Friday, D&D on Saturday and Warhammer tomorrow.

After completing the first phase of testing in one of spaceport's cleanrooms in Kourou, the MTG-i1 satellite has been transferred to the Hazardous Processing Facility to be prepared for fuelling.
The first Meteosat Third Generation satellite is scheduled for liftoff on an Ariane 5 rocket in December. Once in geostationary orbit, MTG-I1, which carries two new extremely sensitive instruments, promises to further bolster Europe's leadership in weather forecasting.

After Demi from Tumblr made a cool drawing of MTG-02 that Cezium made. I was inspired to make my own version of it.
Because admit it, the MOC that Marko made totally sucks is pretty cool.

The reason for changing the pistol to a sniper rifle is because Marko always picks sniper in video games..even though he sucks at aiming
A couple of proper AECs now !
The other main contender for 'Find of the Day' was this Regal IV / Burlingham Seagull, new to Thomas Bros. of Port Talbot in 1953. It had no other PSV owners after sale in 1965, but has had a varied selection of caravan, transporter and preservation owners over subsequent years, and is (I hope) still in the care of the South Wales Transport Preservation Trust, awaiting a no doubt long and costly restoration. It was in its first period of caravan life at this time.
