A great afternoon today on the S&C, despite the Arcows and Dalesman being cancelled. Managed this, the logs and the Mountsorrel all in full sun thankfully!!
Running about 20 late here and with no worries about the sun, 37425 & 37402 pass Great Dudland near Rimington with the usual 6K05 engineers.
The train on the right is stationary, as each hopper wagon is unloaded individually.
The train on the left is travelling at approximately 70mph and has a good heat haze above the roof where the exhaust is, the loco is working quite hard here.
The two trains combined have the equivalent to around 100 artic / semi truck loads of cargo.
The 6C31 06.36 Mountsorrel to Radlett loaded stone service crosses the Welland Valley.

Storms were brewing so there were some amazing skies on this morning just after dawn.
The photo was taken from the bank of the river that forms the boundary between Rutland and Northants.

In superb evening light, Colas 70813 bursts out of Moorcock Tunnel and passes over Lunds Viaduct with 6C83 Mountsorrel to Carlisle ballast.
After several years I believe this flow is to cease and ballast will be obtained from a quarry in Scotland.

After royally missing the 37 by just 5 minutes, we stuck around for a little longer for this. Believe it or not, a queue at Settle petrol station held us up as well as a bus and a tractor who refused to pull in all the way from Settle-Horton, otherwise we would have comfortably made it here for the 37 among the gallery already there.
