The views from the top of Mount John are simply unbeatable for alpine landscapes, even during the day in summer. This panorama shows the blue waters of Lake Alexandrina on the left and Lake Tekapo on the right leading the eye toward the Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park.
A small slice of the Chugach Mountain Range seen from the Glenn Highway, one of the top 3 scenic highways I've enjoyed. Alberta's Icefield's Parkway and Glacier Park's Going to the Sun Road are the other two that I can never get enough of.
The Chugach Mountains begin near the Alaskan panhandle and form the coast along much of Southcentral Alaska. These mountains contain the greatest concentration of glacial ice in Alaska.

Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend!
A little North of Baker California. It's a long climb, then a drop down into Nevada. Such great clouds that day, I looked to my right and had to pull over to get a shot of not only the clouds, but the way the light and shadows were working their way across the distance mountains.
At an elevation of 4,629 feet, Max Patch boasts a 360-degree view of the Appalachian Mountains including the Blue Ridge and the Smokies.
The famous Appalachian National Scenic Trail (or A.T.) on top of Max Patch Mountain near Hot Springs. It was cleared and used as pasture in the 1800s. Today, it's a 350-acre tract of open land on a high knob with 360-degree views. On a clear day, you can see from Mt. Mitchell on the east to the Great Smoky Mountains on the south. Max Patch is part of the Pisgah National Forest.

We trekked along the bank of Kaligandanki river and the gorge with the magnificent views of the Himalayas and snow mountains on both sides.

I had to pull over to get a few pictures of this beast. About 50 miles south of Fallon, Nevada on US-95. By the time I reached the summit of Mount Montgomery at over 7,000 feet the snow was coming down hard. Fortunately, I only had about 10 miles of nasty weather, a hard blowing snow storm. Then as I dropped down into California I was past the worst of it. As difficult as winter driving can be, I love the wildness of these storms, photographically anyway.
This is a view of Continental Divide mountain peaks, taken from Loveland Pass, Colorado.
Loveland Pass is just short of 12000 feet high, above the treeline. Many Colorado mountains peak out over 14000 feet..

It's always so great to be able to escape the fog, enjoying sunshine, warmer temperatures up in the mountains and a fantastic spectacle
to watch this sea of fog.

Jedes Jahr im Herbst aufs Neue ist es fantasisch, dem Nebel unten im Tal zu entfliehen und Sonnenschein und wärmere Temperaturen oben in den Bergen zu genießen und dieses Nebelmeer zu betrachten.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead, dear friends.
Thanks for your kind visits and comments.
Stay safe and healthy.

- On The Way to here... Up Ahead You See The 4-Peak-Mountain-Tops filled with Snow... Route 87, AZ. -
Autumn and First light in Grindelwald, Swiss (Berner-Oberland),
An ND-Filter is used to create a long shutter time.
The path starts out in the right direction, but it would be a long walk to the Rocky Mountains hahaha. First you would pass the dark peaks in the background, "The Front Range", then the snow-capped peaks behind are about 65 miles from this walkway.
Here's one more from my archives I am currently organising: a beautifyully mellow sunset in one of those magnificent Northern mirror places on the Norwegian Lofoten islands.

Witnessing a night of aurora borealis show for hours on end with ever changing plumes and shapes, hues and intensities of those raging lights is an experience nobody forgets, especially not if it was the first real aurora. I mean I had seen instances before but never so bright and clear, so pronounced and prolonged.
With all the heat going on I would like to offer myself and everyone else who needs a refreshment a rather cool image from last Decemer ;) :)
The elusive and capricious lady Aurora graced us with her bewitching presence that night :)
Happy Monochrome Monday!

Lofoten Wall mountains reflected in the calm waters of Sandvika Bay off the Norwegian Sea on a crystal-clear summer day.

Walking in the Kaiserstuhl in the Black Forest
The Kaiserstuhl offers inviting wine terraces, themed paths, bike paths and a quality hiking trail around the Kaiserstuhl.
There are many opportunities to take a walk in the region,
including 16 Nature Reserves.
This well-liked path in the image offers a beautiful and familiar view in a westward direction: From the hills and terraced vineyards to the Upper Rhine valley and the Vosges mountains in the nearby Alsace, France.
The lockdown in my region allowed it to take sports like bicycle touring and walking outside.

The June full moon rises adjacent to Ferns Nipple in Capitol Reef National Park.
One of the best kept secrets of the National Park System, Capitol Reef is full of unique sights, stunning vistas, and spectacular landscapes. About as far away from any metropolitan area you can find, this is a great location for dark skies and great images.

I took the photo from about 2,200 m / 7,220 ft
Ullsfjorden fjord in the Arctic region of Norway in a stitched panorama showing the cold beauty of its natural settings. It took a long exposure to show this since the entire landscape it shrowded in winter darkness with something like daylight being available for two scarce hours a day.
Aspen and Cottonwoods adding their fall colors to the mountain panorama.

James's flamingos abound in the area. Also it is possible to find Andean and Chilean flamingos, but in a minor quantity.
And another one from last winter's archives :)
The first moments of our first REAL Northern Lights which lasted for almost two hours and had us shooting away oblivious of the cold due to our excitement :)
One of my favorite places on our recent Canada trip was Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park.
A beautiful alpine lake surrounded by mountains and glaciers.
