This hill is where the archers were posted during the Battle of Uhud.

Beyond this fence are the graves of the Martyrs of Uhud. 70 Sahabah (Companions) were killed that day including many who had memorized the Quran.

Hamza, the Prophet's uncle, was also martyred and his body mutilated in vengeance for the Meccan loss at the Battle of Badr.

This is the site of the historic Battle of Uhud — where a Medinan force of 700 led by the Prophet Muhammad, met the oncoming Meccan force of 3,000.

It ended in significant loss for the Muslims because a group of archers, thinking the battle was over when the Meccans fled, left their post and allowed the Meccans an unexpected rear advantage.

The Prophet rested in this cave after being wounded when the Meccans gained the upper hand.

The walls of the cave emit a very fragrant musk smell.

Just outside madinah stretch out Mount Uhud. This jagged hill of desert rock cuts a stark outline against the light blue sky. Against this stony backdrop, the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ forces came up against the Makkan army which results in losing the fight and many martyrs. This is a mountain from the mountains of Paradise.
