Mount Uhud

This is the site of the historic Battle of Uhud — where a Medinan force of 700 led by the Prophet Muhammad, met the oncoming Meccan force of 3,000.

 

It ended in significant loss for the Muslims because a group of archers, thinking the battle was over when the Meccans fled, left their post and allowed the Meccans an unexpected rear advantage.
