alone in the movement. the city rushes past, and yet, for a moment, everything is still. in madrid's underground, a reflection gazes back. maybe it's her story, maybe it's ours. madrid.
The power and beauty of the ocean. It can be our friend or our enemy, it can deliver life or death, It sustains us, it can be the source of joy or fear. It can set us free or imprison us. Today it is art...

この日、撮影者用の囲いには新潟ナンバーのグループの方が、そしてここにはカメラ2台を使いこなしている方がおりました。この方が池に小石を投げたので便乗してシャッターを切らせてもらいました。
Trees in motion
Panning shot.
I had posted this picture years ago. And when it appeared in Explore, I accidentally deleted it. That's life. ;)
Bäume in Bewegung
Mitzieher-Bild.
Das Bild hatte ich vor Jahren schon einmal eingestellt. Und als es in den Explore kam, hatte ich es aus Versehen gelöscht. So ist das Leben. ;)

My first attempt at some light trails last December. A bit of work to do but quite good fun looking at the results.

Thought this was a fun shot, taken while driving through Gatineau Park. I liked the natural painterly effect in motion, hope you do too =)
Just as we were about to leave we heard the geese taking off, without a second to spare I followed the geese with my camera hoping to get a shot; I literally didn't have time to react and bump up the shutter speed, so I took the picture in the hope that I caught an image. What caught my eye was the textures, the swish and swirl in the movement of the wings, and the gentle ripple in the water, laced with the subtle colours of the sunrise made for an interesting unintentional motion blur.

This CRQ SD40-2 is hitting the grade with its freight train in tow.
This is of course a 1:29 scale model I renumbered, customized, and weathered to resemble the real 6427 in a sort of the late 1990s feel.
Some friends of the group www.flickr.com/groups/1500280@N20/ had a little photo-trip yesterday. It was extreme cold outside, so we better moved to a Italian restaurant after a short time ;-)
Still viewer, still scene.
Restless water intervenes.
Thus the image moves.
Ripples distort reflections and refractions in a shallow pond, while petals float in the shade.

Clifton Beach is the start of an eight kilometer walk out to Cape Kidnappers headland. Not much surf along this stretch.
Long ago, the Land had it all.
She had four seasons, lovers,
and waves of emotion.
Now, she is pale and lacerated.
Crumpled by the hoof of time,
and tears of erosion.
Her core is charred in beige flesh.
Lost lust and love flutter in
alchemic commotion.
The land now idly breathes.
Hush… hear! She still is
stillness in motion!

PS: As an annual tradition that I refuse to let go, I have curated ten of my personal favorite 2024 images, which are borrowed from my cherished memories of the year. You could think of these images in the album as my private celebration of the year where you are warmly invited. Here’s the ode to 2024. Thank you for taking the time. Let me know if any of them remind you of any of your own 2024.
And for 2025, with all my heart, I wish you… Stillness in motion!

My attempt at this technique of abstract art linked to nature. No filter, no software.
Perso, nella più bella e vasta faggeta che io conosca.
Niente filtro, niente software; solo un mio tentativo di questa tecnica di astrattismo legato alla natura.

Train tracks and highway's edge split the scene into three parts and the flood water and treeline in the distance created an interesting photo just before dawn. The water below the train tracks was in the ditch between the tracks and the road. Photoshop was used to slightly blur each group of three layers. Vibrance filter was used to bring out more color. Didn't have to go heavy on anything...it was almost there to begin with. I was traveling about 60 mph and just held the cell phone to the truck window. You get lucky sometimes.
