A chimney transformed into artwork by the artist Raymond Moretti at La Defence in Paris. He covered the chimney with tubes of different size and colour.
Ah, Azalea Amore continues as new blossoms arrive and Snoopy has once again found the salvia lyrata, or Lyreleaf Sage.
These delightful little violet bells are always a welcome sight. They pop up usually around our front sidewalk and sometimes even form the most lovely expanse in sections of our field.
So we were quite surprised, happily so, upon close inspection of these blooms to find the most charming little beagle trying to hide inside!

Based on the 127, clearly, a similar thing to the Mehari, which is why I was surprised to see one in Rome, which isn't exactly known for its beaches.
A lot of tape supporting this one, and there was a lot of rust breaking through in the bits that were still metal too. Not something I ever thought I would see.
Le Moretti est une installation composée 672 tubes de fibre de verre, d'un diamètre allant de 2 à 30 cm peints de 19 tons différents, vifs et froids, pour une longueur totale de 22 km et un poids total de 27,5 t1. Ces tubes recouvrent la totalité de la surface externe d'une cheminée d'aération de 32 m de haut et de forme légèrement ovoïde.
La nuit, la cheminée est éclairée par des projecteurs, lui permettant de se refléter dans les vitres des immeubles environnants.
The Moretti is an installation made up of 672 fiberglass tubes, with a diameter ranging from 2 to 30 cm painted in 19 different tones, lively and cold, for a total length of 22 km and a total weight of 27.5 t1. These tubes cover the entire outer surface of a 32 m high, slightly ovoid vent.
At night, the chimney is illuminated by spotlights, allowing it to be reflected in the windows of the surrounding buildings.

Asahi Optical Co. Pentax Super A and SMC Pentax 50mm f/1.4, Kodak Gold 200 (bought at the flea market along with a Rokkor 28mm f/2.8, that lens stood the years ways better than the film!) idevelopped by Foto Express on the Schweitzer Straße and digitalized using kit zoom and extension tubes.

This work of art, inaugurated in 1995, can be considered as a giant straw.
It took 2100 hours of assembly to glue 672 fiberglass tubes to a 32m high ventilation chimney.
The tubes are of 19 different shades, weigh 27.5 tons, and total a length of 22 km.
It is the work of the artist Raymond Moretti.

2100 heures de montage auront été nécessaires pour coller 672 tubes de fibres de verre sur une cheminée d'aération haute de 32 m.

Birra MORETTI
Più di cento anni fa nasceva a Udine, in Friuli, la "Fabbrica di birra e ghiaccio" di Luigi Moretti.
Udine era allora una cittadina molto tranquilla, circondata da una cerchia di mura che la comunità locale aveva eretto fino dal 1350. Dentro le vecchie mura, gli udinesi vivevano industriosamente, dediti da generazioni al commercio e all´artigianato.
Erano gli anni decisivi per l´unità d´Italia.
A quel tempo l´intero Friuli era ancora annesso all´impero Austroungarico, e i moti patriottici erano vivissimi anche in città. Non a caso nel castello che domina Udine era stanziata una guarnigione austriaca, e nella piazza principale erano stati posizionati alcuni cannoni.
Fu proprio in questo clima di fermenti - nello stesso anno delle famose battaglie di San Martino e Solferino - che Luigi Moretti, allora trentasettenne, guardando con fermezza e serenità al futuro, decise di costruire la sua fabbrica di birra.
Nato da una facoltosa famiglia di mercanti, Luigi Moretti era a quel tempo ben introdotto nel commercio all´ingrosso di granaglie, vino, spiriti, generi alimentari e naturalmente anche nel commercio della birra, che la sua famiglia acquistava dalla vicina Austria.
Il fondatore, al momento dell´inaugurazione della sua piccola fabbrica, non poteva certo immaginare quanto fosse destinata a crescere.
La prima bottiglia di Birra Moretti fu venduta nell’estate del 1860. Anche se la confezione era un po’ diversa da quella attuale, la qualità del prodotto è sicuramente rimasta immutata.
Le apparecchiature utilizzate erano tra le più moderne dell’epoca, così come continuano ad essere quelle utilizzate oggi.
All’inizio degli anni ‘90, Birra Moretti da birra regionale friulana diventa una birra distribuita a livello nazionale crescendo continuamente e conquistando sempre nuovi appassionati ed estimatori.
In 150 anni di vita, Birra Moretti ha oltrepassato i confini nazionali.
Oggi Birra Moretti è esportata in oltre quaranta Paesi del mondo, fra cui Stati Uniti, Regno Unito, Canada e Giappone ed ha conquistato importanti riconoscimenti internazionali. Nel 2006 Birra Moretti è stata l’unica marca italiana ad aver primeggiato con la medaglia d’oro e quella d’argento del World Beer Cup, la più importante competizione mondiale del settore. Nello stesso periodo a conferma dell´alta qualità di Birra Moretti altre 5 medaglie alla competizione Australian International Beer Award, la competizione internazionale di maggior rilievo nell’emisfero australe.
Per la famiglia Birra Moretti tali riconoscimenti rappresentano davvero un’occasione di trionfo soprattutto per essere divenuta l’unica birra italiana ad aver primeggiato in categorie solitamente presidiate da birre tedesche o americane
