There's snow on every inch of the city. It's winterland and enjoying it. Best viewed in full size.

The eastern half of Montreal seen from the Observatoire Place Ville Marie (on a grey day). In the foreground, left, some of the buildings of the Place des Arts (Museum of Contemporary Art, Symphony Hall); in the background, left as well, the Olympic Stadium and the tower (le Geant) holding its roof. On the right, the St. Lawrence River, the Pont Jacques Cartier, and behind it, the new harbour.

Former pavilion built by the United States for Expo 67 in Montreal, this geodesic dome was designed by architect Buckminster Fuller and was 250 feet in diameter.

This was the year of my arrival in Canada, Centennial Year, a very exciting time for the country.

The Montreal River is a rocky stream that flows northward towards the Wisconsin/Michigan U.P. border and Lake Superior. The riverbank is an inviting lowland woods with moss and vines draping the hemlocks, cedar and tamaracks.

Montréal City Hall (Hôtel de Ville) is a Second Empire–style building completed in 1878. It features a mansard roof, central clock tower, and symmetrical stone façade. After a 1922 fire, the interior was rebuilt with Beaux-Arts influences and modern administrative spaces.

You should have noticed me using my phone often to capture buildings and interiors on this trip. The outside was too cold, so I did not want to take my new camera out. In addition, my current setup (an APS-C with a 28 mm lens or the kit lens) was not enough to provide the wide-angle needed to capture these beautiful pieces of history.

Here is the reflection game I captured during a sunny Montreal morning. A cityscape in such an un-real framed view of the town.

Tour du Port de Montréal - Place des commencements

It is a beautiful, sunny but frigid day! And oh the wind! The walk is enjoyable because I am dressed for it ... that means long johns! This city is fantastic. It is larger than life. A place for dreamers to build their dreams. Even if they are this big. This city is one of a kind. Artistic, cultural and steeped in learning.

Montréal is the cradle of civilization. The warmth of the people is unmatched.

Montreal is so vibrant and lively compared to…., well ok I’ll say it. Ottawa. Maybe Eric can tell me the name of this pedestrian street.

The Montreal Canadiens joined the NHL in 1917 and were founded in 1909. The Canadiens are the oldest hockey team in the NHL, one of the oldest continuously existing sports franchises in the world, and also one of the most successful in all of sports.

Old Montreal is the oldest area in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with few remains dating back to New France. Located in the borough of Ville-Marie, the area is bordered on the west by McGill St., on the north by Ruelle des Fortifications, on the east by Rue Saint Andre and on the south by the Saint Lawrence River. Following recent amendments, the district has been expanded slightly to include the rue des Soeurs Grises in the west, Saint Antoine St. in the north and Saint Hubert Street in the east. It also includes the Old Port of Montreal. Most of Old Montreal was declared an historic district in 1964 by the Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec
