Rome, November 14, 2015 - MonteMario Gypsies camp is a little equipped area in the north of Rome where live Bosnian Gypsies.The man in the picture is Vebian Halilovic. He is the eldest of the camp and has 50 grandchildren. He lived in Italy for at least 50 years and in this camp 30. In this case I have asked to Vebian if he was available to crew for an environmental portrait. I asked him to be natural as in life everyday and forget me. I also explained to Vebian that environmental portraits are interesting to describe the Gypsies lifestyle. I have always tried not to influence in any way the scene and I have always given to the subjects the freedom to think as they liked, forgetting the photographer. The girl on the right is his nephew and is casually pictured

"quarantine | 20" è un progetto fotografico personale realizzato durante il periodo di isolamento da covid-19. Rigorosamente realizzato in casa e negli spazi strettamente esterni, si avvale dell'uso di materiale semplice e di facile reperimento. Idee fotografiche molto minimaliste per descrivere, raccontare, questo periodo storico decisamente anomalo così come viene visto attraverso i miei occhi.

Solitudine, isolamento, paure, necessità, desiderio di tornare alla normalità di sempre. Ma cos'è la normalità?

 

"quarantine | 20" is a personal photographic project created during the period of isolation from covid-19. Strictly made in the home and in strictly outdoor spaces, it makes use of simple and easy to find material. Very minimalist photographic ideas to describe, tell, this decidedly anomalous historical period as it is seen through my eyes.

Loneliness, isolation, fears, needs, desire to return to the normalcy of all time. But what is normalcy?

Il #PalazzodellaFarnesina è la sede del #MinisterodegliAffariEsteri della #RepubblicaItaliana e sorge nella zona degli “#OrtiFarnesiani”, da cui prende il nome, oggi area del #ForoItalico, tra #MonteMario ed il #Tevere. L'edificio fu iniziato nel 1937 su progetto degli architetti #EnricoDelDebbio, #ArnaldoFoschini e #VittorioBallioMorpurgo, come nuovo #PalazzodelLittorio, sede del #PartitoNazionaleFascista, ma già nel 1940 ne fu cambiata la destinazione d'uso in Ministero degli Affari Esteri. I lavori furono interrotti nel 1943, ripresero nel dopoguerra e terminarono nel 1959. Con più di 1300 stanze distribuite su 9 piani e con una facciata lunga 169 metri ed alta 51 metri, la Farnesina è, insieme alla #ReggiadiCaserta, uno degli edifici più voluminosi presenti in Italia. Il palazzo ospita inoltre la preziosa #CollezioneFarnesina che ripercorre la storia dell'arte del Novecento italiano attraverso le correnti dell’#ArtNouveau, del #Futurismo, della #Metafisica, dell’#Astrattismo, dell’#ArtePovera, della #Transavanguardia sino ad alcune opere delle ultime generazioni di artisti e designer italiani. All’esterno del palazzo è stata collocata la “#SferaGrande”, una delle note opere dello scultore #ArnaldoPomodoro, inizialmente concepita per l’#ExpodiMontréal del 1967.

 

The Farnesina Palace is the headquarters of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the area of ​​the "Farnese Gardens", which gives it the name, today's area of ​​the Foro Italico, between Monte Mario and the Tiber. The building was begun in 1937 to a design by architects Enrico del Debbio, Arnaldo Foschini and Vittorio Morpurgo Ballio as the new Palazzo del Littorio, the National Fascist Party house, but in 1940 the intended use was changed in the one of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The work was interrupted in 1943, resumed after the war and ended in 1959. With over 1,300 rooms on 9 floors and with a facade of 169 meters long and 51 meters high, the Farnesina is, together with the Reggia di Caserta palace, one of the most massive buildings in Italy. The palace also houses the precious Farnesina Collection which traces the history of Italian art in the twentieth century through the currents of art Nouveau, Futurism, Metaphysics, abstractism, Arte Povera, Transavanguardia up to some works of the last generations of Italian artists and designers. Outside of the building it was placed the "Big Sphere", one of the known works of the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, originally conceived for Expo 1967 Montréal.

Yesterday I did the switch from Aperture to Lightroom, it took the all day to copy and copy again almost 500GB of photos, so, this is my first day with this software by Adobe.

I didn't decided to get this software earlier because I was waititng Apple for the release of the new Photo app, but since is not yet released and I still don't know how the editing and management of the pictures/videos will be and also because I couldn't wait anymore, I decided to finally do the switch!

 

Is the first day, and this is the first photo that I edited, so, I need to get more used to this great software, hope to learn new exiting things soon, also with the help of my KelbyOne subscription, and bring to you guys more amazing photos ...

 

... Stay tuned, 2015 is gonna be awesome!

Lo ‪#‎StadioOlimpico‬ sorge presso il ‪#‎ForoItalico‬, alle pendici di ‪#‎MonteMario‬. Originariamente noto come stadio dei Cipressi, fu ideato nel 1927 da ‪#‎EnricoDelDebbio‬ e poi ripreso nel 1937 da ‪#‎LuigiMoretti‬. Abbandonato durante la guerra, nel 1949 il ‪#‎CONI‬, l'ente proprietario, decise il completamento a cura di ‪#‎AnnibaleVitellozzi‬ che lo ultimò nel 1953. All'epoca noto come ‪#‎StadiodeiCentomila‬ per via della capienza che si aggirava intorno ai 100.000 posti, fu ribattezzato stadio Olimpico dopo l'assegnazione a Roma dei giochi della ‪#‎XVIIOlimpiade‬ del 1960 di cui ospitò le cerimonie di apertura e di chiusura e le competizioni di atletica leggera. A dispetto della sua rilevante capienza, l'impianto si integrava perfettamente con l'ambiente circostante, offrendo un impatto visivo gradevole e contenuto grazie alla relativamente modesta elevazione da terra delle tribune dovuta alla parziale sottoelevazione del terreno di gioco, sfruttando la forma naturale a conca del terreno. In vista dei campionati del mondo di calcio del 1990, l'impianto fu quasi interamente demolito, ricostruito in cemento armato e tutti i settori furono integralmente coperti da una tensostruttura bianca in fibra di vetro. I lavori di ristrutturazione non tennero conto dell'impatto sull'ambiente circostante e il nuovo impianto tradì lo spirito con cui era stato concepito il precedente stadio. Sul viale del Foro Italico che porta allo stadio sono tutt’ora presenti i mosaici realizzati nel 1937 su disegno di ‪#‎GinoSeverini‬, ‪#‎AngeloCanevari‬, ‪#‎AchilleCapizzano‬, ‪#‎GiulioRosso‬. Oltre alle gare di calcio delle società ‪#‎ASRoma‬, ‪#‎SSLazio‬, della ‪#‎nazionaleitaliana‬, lo stadio ha ospitato competizioni di atletica leggera, di rugby e concerti di grande richiamo.

The Olympic Stadium is situated at the Foro Italico, the slopes of Monte Mario. Originally known as the stadium of the Cypresses, it was conceived in 1927 by Enrico Del Debbio and then taken up by Luigi Moretti in 1937. Abandoned during the war, in 1949, the CONI, the owner agency, commissioned the architect Annibale Vitellozzi to complete it (1953). At the time known as the Hundred thousand stadium because of the capacity that was around 100,000 seats, was renamed Olympic stadium after the assignment to Rome of the XVII Olympic Games (1960) for which it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics competitions. Despite its significant capacity, the plant was perfectly integrated with the surroundings, providing a pleasant appearance thanks to the relatively low elevation of the stands from the floor due to partial burial of the pitch, taking advantage of the natural shape of the basin of the terrain. In view of the football world championships in 1990, the plant was almost completely demolished, rebuilt in reinforced concrete and all sectors were fully covered by a white fiberglass marquee. The renovations did not keep attention to the impact on the surrounding environment and the new stadium betrayed the spirit in which the previous one had been conceived. On the Foro Italico avenue leading to the stadium, people can still walk on the mosaics made in 1937 on design by Gino Severini, Angelo Canevari, Capizzano Achilles and Giulio Rosso. In addition to the football competitions of A.S. Roma, S.S. Lazio, the Italian national team, the stadium hosted competitions in athletics, rugby and some great call concerts.

This luminous icon - one of the most beautiful I've ever seen - is of Our Lady, the Madonna of San Sisto, and it dates to the early 6th century, and is considered miraculous.

 

May she grace our new year of 2011, and bless all our days that we may walk in God's presence, and at our final end join her in His kingdom.

Solar tower of the astronomical observatory of Rome on Monte Mario. The solwar tower was built in 1951 and was, at that time, a leading instrument for solar research.

Tomorrow, 28th January, is the feast of St Thomas Aquinas. This relic of the saint is in the care of the Dominican nuns of Monte Mario in Rome.

 

Sadly the photo is not well-focused: the result of poor lighting conditions and over excitement on my part!
