巨大な雪の怪物は「樹氷」と呼ばれるもの。おおよそ氷点下5℃以下に冷却された水蒸気や、過冷却の水滴(0℃でも凍らない水)が風に乗って樹木に吹きつけられて凍ったものです。
その中でも、東北の奥羽山脈の一部の山域(八甲田山、八幡平、蔵王、吾妻山)などに見られる巨大な樹氷が『アイスモンスター（スノーモンスター）』と呼ばれています。

The Monster Building, located in Quarry Bay neighbourhood in Eastern Hong Kong, isn’t actually a single building, but an E-shaped 19-floor complex composed of five interconnected structures: Oceanic Mansion, Fok Cheong Building, Montane Mansion, Yick Cheong Building, and Yick Fat Building. It was built during a population boom in the 1960s to offer housing for low-income residents. The Monster Building has 2443 flats and is home to around 6 thousand people.

I seem to under estimate of this picture because my wife, and my friends don't like it. However, it has been picked by National Geographic's Daily Dozen today - 7/21.

Dawlish, Devon. Known for it's sea wall being battered by waves, even on a calm day! Here the water monster is climbing up to drench yet another victim!

The Sand Motor was built as coastal protection. The no access sign was there because of research activities (unknown to me). It looked like such a contrast to the wide open coastal landscape.

Another mural seen in a lane of Mount Pleasant ( 112 E 7th Ave). The artist, Michelle Nguyen, explore the adventure of eccentric, fictionalized bodies and the spaces they occupy.
Vancouver Mural Fest (VMF) love transforming the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood (one of Vancouver’s hippest neighbourhoods) into an even brighter and better place with their murals all while putting on an epic street party too.
Vancouver Mural fest supports local artists and has helped produce over 150 murals since 2016! That means there are a lot of murals for you to check out!

Gila Monster: Beads, Burrows, and Bite
One of only two venomous lizards in North America (the other’s in Mexico), the Gila Monster lumbers through the Southwest like it owns the desert—which it kind of does.
It doesn’t strike—it gnaws to inject venom. Yes, chews. Slowly. While you rethink your life choices.
It spends most of its time underground, emerging to snack on eggs, hatchlings, and the occasional unlucky rodent.
I photographed this one drinking at a pond and then strolling off like it had a reservation somewhere cooler. It never rushed. Why would it? Legends don’t run.
The Monster Building is a group of five connected buildings on King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. It is a famous location for photography and used as inspiration for several filming locations. There are 2,243 units in five blocks with 18 floors in height. Currently, 10,000 people live in this complex. Wikipedia
yes.. it appears a mini-theme has emerged here. I have spent a great deal of my time in nyc in the company of monsters ;)
I saw my second Gila Monster in less than 2 months yesterday. Pretty cool. East of Florence Arizona.

The Sand Motor is an innovative method for coastal protection. It is a huge volume of sand that has been applied along the coast of the province South-Holland at the city of Monster in 2011. Wind, waves and currents will spread the sand naturally along of South-Holland coastline. It's like building with nature. The Sand Motor will gradually change in shape and will eventually befully incorporated into the dunes and the beach. The coast will be broader and safer.

These trucks are highly modified in order to take the shock loads of jumping over cars and buses and often times landing awkwardly on only one wheel. Many components come from heavy duty trucks or old military vehicles. Monster Truck Throwdown at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, Virginia.
The foot trail goes between these redwood monsters along the Trillium Falls Trail, Redwood National and State Parks, October, 2024. We found it not uncommon to see the corkscrew-like bark patterns like the one on the left. It is impossible to hike here and not feel changed.
