Morning comes to Mono Lake. If you look large you can see the osprey perched at its nest out on the tufa.

The sky starts to glow to east during sunset at Mono Lake, Ca.

During this capture some other photographers turned on some lights as fate would have it ... assuming two did to as there were different tones of light as can be seen on the tufa. The results were interesting.

Mono Lake, CA

Applied some light painting here by bouncing in the light off of some other tufa behind us. Was just for a few seconds to provide some low light details in the foreground.

Many do not know that there is a crater there next to Mono Lake ... and on this magical night the lava started to flow from a new opening ...

... or maybe there was just some lights from another photographer that lit the scene. This photographer was walking over to coordinate some light painting he was doing and the impact it might have on our captures. He had a red light on his head and a small led flashlight as well that combined for the light there among the tufa.

Then again, I like the idea of the lava instead ;)

Applied a little light painting bouncing the light into the tall tufa ... and at the same time another photographer out in the dark was using a green laser.

Tufa in the early night as the clouds were slowly dissipating to reveal the night sky.

Moody clouds were passing by as we waited for the sky to clear some ... liked the moody light and clouds adding to the 'zombie apocalypse mood'.

Late in the evening as the sun went down over Mono Lake.

The light and lone Tufa there caught my eye ... zoomed in slightly for this composition.
