They are beautiful without colour as well.

I saw this lovely folk singer play on Saturday night for her first tour. She sings both in English and French and has such a beautiful melancholic way about her songs.

This was the crowd when I turned around at one point of King Khan's set.

It's always hard having a December birthday (from what I hear from those who do) but having one the day after Christmas must be really hard. In any case, I'm a huge fan of this human and the music created.

Broadcast will probably be snuggling on this fluffy winter blanket all day while I bike to work in 11 degrees Farenheit / -11 degrees Celcius. This is not my favorite biking temperature, I have to say.

Most people walk right by you

You’re the size of the tip of a teenage thumb

And, though you contain multitudes

Everyone is too busy

Too impatient to even look your way.

Rushing quickly from point to point without a real connection

Every day, you’re just happy when you

Don’t get stepped on.

Oh, what a wasted world we live in

When all of these brilliant things

Can be overlooked so completely

Taken for granted and so often

Destroyed.

Wispy cloud flows over the back 40 on a late fall day....

This band is a bit twee and a bit glam-young with a great deal of genuineness. I really enjoyed their set and this was the moment when lead singer, Liam Yorgensen, gave a heart gesture with his hands to Chicago.

This is the only band from out of town who played Record Store Day at Bric a Brac. Soup Activists are from St. Louis, Missouri.

I saw Torres quite a few years ago before the pandemic and I was greatly impressed when I saw her last night to see how she's transformed into someone who has a rich command of her songs and incredible stage presence.

I was able to see Japanese ambient composer, Chihei Hatakeyama, for a rare performance in Chicago last Wednesday. You can listen to his music here:

I was sick at home all day today so I am a little late posting. I am feeling a little better now, though more dependent on ibuprofen than I would like to be. I hope everyone is well.

I did not take it lightly that I had the opportunity to photograph the most famous Zamrock band of the 1970s, WITCH or We Intend to Cause Havoc. I am grateful I had a chance to see these greats play in the flesh in my own city. Here's the history of the band:

Ric Wilson is a Chicago treasure-a little bit of hip hop and a lot of soul. Really good politics and human.

Of all the Halloween costumes I saw last year at the parade, this one was my favorite...definitely the most creative!

I don't know what came first in my life..being drawn to photograph concerts because I love music or because I love capturing human expression. I listened to music far before I ever held a camera (babies just don't have great motor skills, you know?)

Anyway, I liked this middle of the night dreamy feeling Matt Berninger has in this moment. Whether or not you like The National (I like them just fine but I prefer Tindersticks), I felt like the gesture and expression was very relatable..it's one that wonders if this was all just a dream or maybe all just a simulation...and wondering how much time we have left on this Earth anyway.

The grooves on an old circulon saucepan.

For Macro Mondays. Theme - Leading Lines.

Also for Monochrome Monday.

I rarely post two photos a day but I wanted to post a shot that contrasted with the other shot and more showed the positive energy that comes about when people get together and celebrate an acceptance of all people. I loved the camaraderie!

How many times do we see a connection almost being made....but then it is not. With all the words in all the languages, sometimes we still don't know how to truly speak to each other.

A visit to Stonehenge, the magnificent 5000 year old prehistoric stone circle near Amesbury in Wiltshire, England. The day seemed perfect for a visit to this place with strong clouds overhead and a weather mood one would ask for to frame the dramatic ensemble from the distant past.

Sorry my friends that I have not been around lately but I needed a break. I hope to contribute more frequently again soon.

(aged 55 to 65 years)

I was so sad for you when you lost all your hair

It occurred gradually for several years

A strand or two fallen every time you wore a hat

Or scrubbed your scalp in the shower.

Then, one day, you were just bald and

We could all see the contours of you.

Your real shape...

Your true self...

Don’t worry. We will still admire you.

And when we gawk and quiver

It isn’t because of what is missing.

It is because of what is left.
