Yet another silly gadget for the home, I should probably have gone for the better featured Dr Wattson power monitor but the OWL was a hell of a lot cheaper. The usual OWL is a sensor on the meter with a transmitter which is picked up by the display units built in receiver. Shows how much power is being used, how much it's costing etc... The OWL USB Connect allows you to monitor the power usage over time on any usb equipped windows PC. Pretty nice all in all though the interface is very very basic, I'd like it better if it could track the usage historically over a much longer period of time. Hopefully there's a software update in the works... the API has been released too so maybe third party software and linux support too!

U.S. Navy divers descend to the wreck site of the U.S.S. Monitor to try and salvage the main engine and other artifacts. The divers are working closely with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, (NOAA) in a joint venture to salvage the main engine from the wreck to be preserved and later displayed at the MarinerÕs museum in Newport News, VA. The Derrick Barge WOTAN, is serving as the main support vessel for Phase II of the Monitor 2001 expedition, the sixth NOAA-Navy expedition to preserve the historic vessel. The USS Monitor went down off the coast of Cape Hatteras, NC, in 1862 during a severe storm.

This juvenile Merten's Water Monitor (?) wasn't disturbed by our presence as we walked back out of the paperbark swamp. It was covered in just as many mosquitos as we were. Really pleased to see this lizard as the populations of many species that eat amphibians were badly affected by the arrival of the toxic cane toads. The Israeli government and a human rights organization are keeping an eye on new expressions of anti-Semitism coming out of Egypt in light of the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise to power in that nation. There is also anxiety because the Obama administration has yet to speak out about it.
Fueling the latest concern was Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s reaction to an Imam’s prayer calling for the destruction of Israel. Last week influential Imam Futouh Abd Al-Nabi Mansour prayed, “Oh Allah ... grant us victory over the infidels. Oh Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters.” Morsi was seen mouthing the word “Amen” to that prayer.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center points to Morsi’s action as just another example of a disturbing trend since Morsi took over the Egyptian presidency from predecessor Hosni Mubarak. “The rise to power of the Muslim Brotherhood has prompted open expressions of anti-Semitism in ways that were never publicly expressed during the Mubarak period," the center’s Efraim Zuroff told Fox News, adding that the Obama administration “is treating this far less seriously than it should be.”
The Israeli government is also paying attention to the talk coming out of Egypt. “We have no illusions about the Muslim Brotherhood ideology," a senior Israeli diplomat told Fox News. "There is a sense of wariness here and an additional injection of uncertainty.”
The Wiesenthal Center’s Zuroff says, he’s troubled by the Obama administration’s inattention to the Brotherhood’s rhetoric. "They are giving Egypt’s new leadership tremendous latitude when it comes to things like this, despite the fact that these are the type of issues on which they should be held accountable,” Zuroff said.
History is littered with nations and people groups who have aligned themselves against the Jewish people. Such action is predicted in Zechariah 12:3: “It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” Pray today for the nation of Israel and their protection from forces that would destroy them.

March 8 2013, Navy Inters USS Monitor Remains in Arlington National Cemetery
Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Ray Mabus announced that remains
recovered from the USS Monitor will be interred in Arlington National
Cemetery Mar. 8. The specific date of the interment was chosen to honor Monitor's role in
the Battle of Hampton Roads 151 years ago.
A chapel service and graveside burial begins 4 p.m. at Arlington
National Cemetery on Mar. 8. SECNAV, a senior National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) official and Dr. James McPherson, a
civil war author and historian, will speak at this event.
The Monitor, which was designed by Swedish-born John Ericson and built
in 118 days in Brooklyn, N.Y., was the nation's first ironclad warship.
Commissioned Feb. 25, 1862, the ship fought in the first battle between
two ironclads when it engaged CSS Virginia in the Battle of Hampton
Roads. The battle marked the first time iron-armored ships clashed in
naval warfare and signaled the beginning of a new era of naval warfare.
Months later, 16 Sailors were lost when the Monitor sank Dec. 31, 1862
in a storm off Cape Hatteras, N.C. Her wreck was discovered in 1974 and
was designated the nation's first national marine sanctuary, managed by
NOAA.
Starting in 1998, the Navy, NOAA and the Mariner's Museum in Newport
News, Va., began working together to recover artifacts from Monitor.
During the summer of 2002, while attempting to recover the ship's
150-ton gun turret, Navy divers discovered human remains inside the
turret. The remains were transported to what is now named the Joint
POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) in Hawaii for possible identification.
